When Love Meets the Clock

Do you really want to waste my time?

I asked my brother, who was just warming up for his next set while I was just getting done with mine. But as I tried to make him answer me, he smiled because he knew I wanted an answer with the way I was staring at him.

Still, he started another set, and I was still asking myself why he was not answering because when we started this conversation I knew something was up when he said he wanted me to get a girl soon because he'd be leaving for Abuja on the next flight.

The reason for his silence is clear no matter how much I want to fake it because we've had such a conversation a few days ago while working out at the gym next door. Honestly, I've been hooked up on staying single for as long as I can, but my brother here seems to be so poised about my relationship status because we are the only two brothers from one mother. And now that he has come to visit me for the festival period he's surprised he hasn't seen any girls around nor have I had my phone ring from any female friend.

I'm guessing with all that I have been posting online for some time now, it was easy for him to analyse what could've caused my stubborn ass to withdraw from the dating pool. But when he asked “Why are you not into anyone yet after she left”? was when I asked him if he wanted to waste my time on baseless things that I know are not baseless.

I know it's a good thing to find a partner, but what I've learned in life is that not everyone would get to live that happily ever after life all through their lives. Some do tho, but the stats is about 1/100 which isn't really much considering we have billions of humans scattered across the world. This got me thinking about what other things can a man get for himself even if he doesn't get that bone of his bone. And there you have it — “Everything else”. Money is second on the list and the number one is my “TIME” which is non-refundable nor renewable as far as I know.

If we are to call a spade a spade it is now easier than ever to get everything else apart from love, because love isn't cheap, and it's not something money can buy for a long time until it runs out. True love is priceless and doesn't care about anything else. But to have everything else will make it challenging to find love because you don't know what the other person has in mind, either they want you-for-you or what it is that you have.

In short, my brother knows me so well and that I am usually not on my best behaviour when I'm alone, but then what do I do when it's me against the world all over again?

My point is, sometimes — You won't have what you want, no matter how much you go for it until the time is right and you can feel it in your bones. Maybe someday…whether I make that day today or not is left to me.
That was the last time I had such a conversation with my bro, and until now, we just don't see a need to talk about it anymore because I honestly don't want to waste time on these OS.

Time we all say is precious but do we really know this to be true?
