Discovering Moon Karts

Hello everyone!

Since a couple of weeks I am once again active on Hive. As I really enjoy it to play games, I try to stay ahead of the curve in terms of discovering new games. It seems that I have missed the start of the race (pun intented) in regards to Moon Karts as the project is already live for a couple of months. Despite it's already live for a couple of months, I still think it's not too late to join the fun. I read the White Paper and decided that I would like to start my journey. Because, as you can see, so far, I don't have a racing car nor a pilot:

Thus, step 1 would be to buy some packs which I can open to try out my luck. When I checked the official shop, apparently, all the Centauri packs were sold out. I am not able to buy more packs from the official website.

Luckily there are still some packs for sale on secondary markets. I managed to buy some packs a couple of days ago, before their prices went up. I managed to buy these six packs for a price of 7.5 swap.hive each. It's definitely not cheap, but compared to the lowest bids nowadays of 11 swap.hive, I made a good deal.

After I bought the packs, I decided it would be a good idea to check out the in-game marketplace. If there's one thing that I have learned, than it's that individual items are often cheaper to buy than buying packs and hoping for gold foils. As my budget is rather limited, I always try to hunt for the best opportunity.

The cheapest driver is already available for less than $0.15 which seems ridiculous cheap to me. As that would mean that you would be able to play the game for just $0.15 Don't expect anything too fancy as it's a common driver, but still, it would be a cheap entrypoint.

For those of you who have more money to spend, it's maybe fun to check out the most expensive cards as well. As these often give an idea what you could potentially earn from opening packs. When we filter on highest price first, we see the following cards:

That means that the most expensive card for sale at the moment is worth nearly $750. That's crazy if you would be able to get your hands on such a card. As you can see, there are only 5 pieces in circulation. That's a real rare card.

Next steps

I am still debating if I should open packs or buy individual racers and/or equipment. So far I lean more to individual cards as they are way cheaper. I am still discovering what the equipment exactly does. So for now, I will just go for a cheap racer and see how far I could get with just one racer.

My curiosity is already wondering what the future will bring for Moonkarts as this game seems really great. It's not just a idle game in which you need to collect tokens and that's it. No, it seems like a fun game with the advantage of being able to sell your packs, tokens, racers and equipment.
