You can have a quick look at the gameplay from the shorts video I have uploaded on youtube below:

Right off the bat, you can see the similarities of Monster Hunter and Pokémon Go. And while they are two entirely different game franchise. They share a lot in common. First is that they are both under Niantic and second, the gameplay uses augmented reality where you need to be in certain location to be able to get a monster.

The Game

Monster Hunter is an action role-playing game series developed and published by Capcom. In this series, players take on the role of hunters who track and battle various giant monsters in intricate, skill-based combat encounters. The games are primarily single-player or cooperative multiplayer experiences focused on hunting and gathering resources to craft equipment. It's known for its challenging gameplay and complex combat. The controls are intuitive where in you have to tap to attack and swipe to perform a dodge.

The Monster Hunter World

The game sets you in rich and immersive worlds: The Monster Hunter series is renowned for its meticulously crafted game worlds. Each installment introduces new environments, ecosystems, and monsters, which are all interconnected. Exploring these detailed worlds is a joy, and the sense of immersion adds to the overall experience. Right now I could explore between 3 different world settings, Forest, Desert, and Swamp.

Multiplayer

A good thing about this game is that it emphasizes cooperative multiplayer gameplay, allowing you to team up with friends or other players to take on challenging monsters. Teamwork, strategy, and coordination are essential, making it a great game to play with friends, either locally or online. This makes it a great game to play for IRL friends who can band up and go on quests and hunts together while exploring or while they are out and about.

Updates and Expansions

While these game is under the Capcom developers, a giant in the gaming industry, you can expect regularly released updates and expansions that introduce new monsters, quests, weapons, armor sets, and gameplay mechanics. This ongoing support keeps the game fresh and encourages players to return for new challenges and content. The game is relatively new and I haven't seen much of an update yet.

Community

Similar to the coop point above; this game is focused on its multiplayer aspect. The Monster Hunter community is known for being welcoming and passionate. Joining this community can enhance your gaming experience, as players often share tips, strategies, and camaraderie. It's also common to organize events and hunts with other players, fostering a sense of belonging and shared accomplishment.

So what do you think about this game? I think it is a game worth playing if you are always on the move. If you are into games like Pokemon Go then this could be worth a try. Personally, what makes it truly enjoyable for me is if you have friends that you could play it together with. It is at this time when the games potential is truly brought out.
