(Game Review) "Cuisine Royale"

in Hive Gaming4 years ago

This is a review of a game "Cuisine Royale". Cuisine Royale is a free-to-play battle royale shooter developed by Gaijin Entertainment. The game features a practice mode, solos, duos, and squad play as well as some interesting ritualistic magic that I'll go into later.

What is the game like to play

Well, for those who aren't familiar with battle royale games. You and a large group of other players get dropped into a map. The map size is ever decreasing to force players into smaller spaces to fight it out to the death with the last player standing is the victor but the first thing you'll have to do is search and loot buildings to find guns melee weapons attachments or individual pieces of armor. You can find food that will replenish your health bar and you can even have a beast mode which turns you into a wild killing machine.

But the one thing that sets the gameplay apart from other similar games is the mystic traps and demonic rituals you can unlock while playing. They all have interesting effects like causing an eclipse or altering the state of play to your advantage. The map is colorful and vast with some very interesting and unique areas. You have a whole host of cosmetics to unlock or buy with coins or virtual currency. There are outfits masks and several silly items to make your character stand out so it's kind of a refreshing battle royale game as it doesn't take itself too seriously and has a good sense of humor throughout. but in the end, the game suffers from the same battle royale problem it's very repetitive and does get boring eventually.

Graphically, it's bold, bright, and colorful but the character models and other visuals feel a little bit sub-par the game world does look nice in parts but the character movement is quite glitchy and the collision detection isn't the best. In terms of sound, the overall standard is average but for the most part, it's pretty silent as you explore the vast map.

What's Good and What's Bad

what's good: It's a fun game that has a good sense of humor the ritualistic magic adds something unique to the experience and the map is pretty decent.
What's bad: The gameplay loop gets tiring after a while the map is vast and sometimes you'll play an entire round without seeing another player for ages. The audio is fairly average the controls are clearly not optimized for a dual shock controller and visually it's a little bit wooden.

What's the Verdict

Cuisine Royale is a fun and entertaining battle royal game with a well-crafted map. The game offers something different with its mystic traps and demonic rituals to spice up the standard battle royale fair. The game has a good sense of humor it doesn't take itself too seriously and overall it's pretty good fun to play. Yes, it isn't the best battle royale game out there the controls are a bit janky you know they were made for a mouse and a keyboard, and the graphics not so hot but it's still good fun and it sits behind COD Warzone, Fortnite, and apex legends in the kind of best of the rest category. So if you like battle royale games it's well worth looking into as it's quirky fun and unique in several ways.
