Finally what every child wanted: Hot Wheels Unleashed

What a remarkable surprise this game is, Mattel had been wanting to get back into the video game for several years but not too many studios willing to work their franchises and also have a proposal that would face what other developers put on the market, on the side of Hot Wheels, a brand that has been an icon of speed and cars for several decades, it was not too far-fetched for a game to compete with a niche of driving games that have been defined by Forza Horizon and by a growing wave of new Indie titles that were giving a new direction to arcade driving, In the middle of these two niches is the new installment of Hot Wheels that bets on a high caliber driving very careful in the mechanical aspect but can see some improvements in game design and how it presents its staging, anyway I think I have been very satisfied with the result, do not get too many illusions, Hot Wheels Unleashed is pure nostalgia but with some solid proposals in the playable.

It has that touch of Rocket League in which the absurd and fun becomes real and quality, best of all is undoubtedly the wide variety of classic car models inspired by the toys that surely all children who are fans of the engine will have had as children, each car feels different and that is thanks to the tremendous design work behind the wheel that has had the studio responsible for this work, the Italians of Milestone have set out to make the best release of the Mattel brand to the game and have succeeded with flying colors, attributes of our vehicle such as speed, weight and how strong are their brakes play a key role in each test we want to play and better yet, we can feel them at the wheel so choose the car we will use is crucial to overcome the tests, and the more we play more we can unlock and know which one goes better with us, the good thing is that the title of Mattel has a huge amount of cars that we can exchange whenever we want and invites us to collect them during our passage through the game.

It is not as accessible as a Mario art can be and that can be a real surprise, the controls are quite demanding and each test takes you to a new point where you have to learn when to accelerate, brake or make a skid, the game is not short when it comes to giving players impossible tracks with some of the most common locations that we would see in our childhood, There are tracks that are a whole room and I could not help but smile at the thought of the genius who has come up with something like that, the campaign is quite normal having a board with chips that simulate our car and we must move it around a map full of tests that overcoming them will give us the pass to the final boss, it is direct and simple but a lot of fun once we are clear on the controls.

Then there is my favorite feature of the whole game, the track editor, which is what I expected in a video game for decades, with the ability to create our own Hot Wheels tracks just like those old Christmas ads, there are hundreds of options and a love put especially in the small details such as furniture or items that we can put around the tracks or ramps of our level, everything is oriented to give that feeling that we are facing a game that deserves the support of the community, and it is well deserved because all the elements of a solid game are there since we started, and I am sure that the editor, which is the most complete that has the title, will present an interesting option for all creators who love to experiment with games like this, which from the outside look simple but hide some gems that only time can discover, amazing game I recommend it.
