The new cards are here! The Welcome Set got released, including 70 new cards. Additionally, all the starter decks got replaced. I have already tried all of them, and I think they are weaker than their previous versions. This might be a good thing though, because players can now immediately improve their decks after receiving the first Core card pack. Today, we will have a look at the new Death cards. Death might be my overall favorite, so let's see if I can improve my deck a little!
Spotlight: Death
Some of the less exciting new cards only activate their effect when your health is low enough or help to heal your god afterwards. While these effects aren't that good for now, there might be some nice synergies with the release of Season 1, when more of these cards come into play. For now, the most interesting cards to me are Necromantic and Rebuild Differently, shown below.

Both have one thing in common: they pull random creatures onto your side of the board. This can be both great and almost useless, depending on your play style and your enemy. Necromantic will definitely revive a creature from your own void, whereas Rebuild Differently is more luck dependant. A random creature from your own void might be an advantage, because you can influence those creatures more easily (e.g. with Reanimate). Necromantic would be much better with Afterlife instead of Roar, but I guess it is just a common so it can't be too good. Both of those cards will need perfectly optimized decks to have a significant effect in the game. I can't imagine that Rebuild Differently might replace any other removal spell in the usual Board Wipe Death decks, since it is more expensive than Reap or Ray of Disintegration and its additional effect can be totally useless. I am still tempted to try them in a Death Reanimate deck, because randomness usually guarantees much more fun compared to "regular" decks :D
Have you tried the new starter decks yet?
For a long period of time, I have almost exclusively played Board Wipe Death now, to a point where it got kind of boring. But when I tried the new starter decks, I had so much fun! I lost, sure thing, but I still enjoyed it much more than playing the hundreth time against some Nature deck in mythic. So here is my tip for today: Don't worry too much about your rank. Have fun experimenting and playing new decks. Gods Unchained, even with play-to-earn, is still just a card game, so enjoy it instead of just grinding endlessly.
