An SSD changes your life. Don't even think about buying it, just do it.

Today marks my first month since I was able to acquire an SSD and the truth is that I am very happy with it. A few months ago, I was able to build my own pc, a pretty decent pc compared to the one I was using before. The only thing that my new PC inherited from the previous one were its mechanical hard disks. These hard disks are already many years old, I can hardly remember what era they are from, but they are quite old. Despite having 16 gb of ram, a processor with many cores, I felt that my computer was quite slow. I knew that SSDs outperformed mechanical hard drives by far, but I didn't think I needed them. As time went by my computer got slower and slower, to the point of despair, in fact I preferred to leave my PC on all night to avoid wasting time with the boot up, which took forever. It took 10 minutes to turn my PC on and off, in 10 minutes I could read a couple of chapters of a book, even do some exercise. I got used to my slow PC, opening and closing my browser also took a long time, my games took many minutes to start, even starting paint to cut out a screenshot was a snail's pace.

Everything has a limit, that day I couldn't take it anymore and decided to save some money to buy an SSD. To be honest, I don't think I had ever made such a good decision in my life. My PC went from taking 10 minutes to turn on and off, to only 9 seconds. My life changed completely, and so did my PC.

The SSD I purchased is not the fastest out there, even the brand of my SSD is Chinese and is not well known, but that does not detract from it. Read and write speeds range from 250 MB/s to 500 MB/s, speeds that beat the crap out of my mechanical hard drives. If you're planning on getting an SSD, go for it. The experience you will have using an SSD will be out of this world, just touch the game you want to play and in a couple of seconds, it will be booted.

But it's not just about fast starts, it's also about fast loads. One game I play a lot is League Of Legends. This game used to take a couple of minutes to start a custom game. Now it only takes 10 seconds, even less. In Albion Online, a game where it is very necessary to be attentive at all times, when passing territory, the loading screens are not delayed at all.

If I had to give a negative point to an SSD, it is its price. They are much more expensive than mechanical disks and have less capacity, but they are infinitely faster, so we will have to pay a little more, but it will be totally worth it. In addition to all this, an SSD is much more compact, lighter and quieter than a mechanical hard disk, remember that a mechanical disk works with several parts in constant motion, which generates vibration in the disk and any part that fails, prevents the proper functioning of this.

I wasn't planning to do a post about this, but today I did maintenance on my PC and I couldn't help but think how lucky I am thanks to my SSD, I think I will propose marriage.

If you feel that your PC is slow, for sure the only thing you should do is to get an SSD, I'm sure your PC will feel like new and you will be able to give it a second life. I believe that tomorrow there will be an update for League Of Legends, which will bring several changes and with it, a new champion. I will probably make a small post talking about her and her abilities, although it all depends on how I feel. With nothing more to say, see you my boomers!

I am still waiting for the parts that I ordered. I'd probably get an SSD soon as well since that was missing from the previous order.

Soon you will be able to play chess at 1000 fps. 🤓

lmao what a waste playing chess at 1000 fps xDD

It would be worth it if there were monitors with 1000 hz refresh rate. The fps are indispensable and even more so in a game as competitive as chess. 🤓 Don't mind me, you know I'm kidding.

I have not had the chance to try an SSD for economic reasons, but i have friends who have one and they speak absolute wonders of it, the ability to read files 10 times faster than conventional is certainly something that everyone should have.

You will soon be able to acquire one, you just have to keep making good content. Soon you will be able to afford a good pc and play minesweeper at 1000 fps.

hahahaha, thanks for your good wishes. i will try to improve as much as i can to achieve that goal <3 greetings dear friend

I bought the laptop where I work right now thanks to Neoxian (a Hive user) 2 years ago or so, this laptop has a 32 GB SSD, Windows 10 consumes almost 70% of all available SSD space, but the little space is greatly compensated by the incredible speed, my life changed dramatically after going from 1 GB of RAM to 8 GB of RAM and a SSD

Despite having less capacity, the speed when reading data is incredible. Soon you will be able to have an SSD with higher capacity. The ram is also quite important.

This is something that causes nostalgia in a way in me, as I can easily identify with your post right now.... I will tell you in the shortest way, the pc I use right now uses DDR2 technology and has a maximum capacity for 4GB of RAM only, exactly a week ago I had problems with it and went into a total stress, one of the RAM died and the hard drive was with problems, apparently both already came with problems because the motherboard was not, but anyway, with my knowledge I managed and started looking for more optimal parts, the last great acquisition was my SSD "KINGSTON 64GB", perhaps its storage capacity is quite low, but that I solved it by putting the hard drive as a slave. .. Since I incorporated the SSD to the computer I use now, everything is happier, everything is much better, the way it has changed the performance of the computer is something abysmal in the good sense of the word. The SSD has been the best investment I could have made for my computer.

Yes, it is essential to use mechanical hard disks for secondary storage and SSDs for the operating system and important programs. Our time is valuable, by gaining a few more seconds, even minutes, we will be able to do many more things.

An SSD is a must have for me. I can't go back to life without one. When I got my first SSD some years ago I just sat there restarting my PC to witness the speed. It was awesome. I just went ahead and upgraded my PC as well. Bought all new parts apart from GPU, RAM, SSD and HDD. Can't wait for it to arrive next week.

Next week you'll be riding around in a Ferrari hahahaha. Time is gold and the ssd saves us a lot of time. I can't imagine what the speed of an m.2 nvme must be like.

At this point in time HDD is more of an exception than a rule, I think. SSD got cheap enough to be an obvious choice for a main drive.

For some they are still expensive, but it is true that compared to before, SSDs are now much more affordable.
