I took a break from RE-games after RE4 myself. That was around the PS2 age as well. The games just didn’t look that good to me anymore but when RE7 dropped they changed their style so drastically that I had to get it. I don’t regret it one bit. These last two games have a connected story so if you intend to play RE8 I would recommend doing RE7 first.

Mercenary mode was something brand new to me and I was surprised to see it. I’m glad I checked out that “extras” meant for sure.
