Currently there are countless discussions about the course of Pokémon as a franchise, with the recent foray into Nintendo Switch marking the premiere of the first main game on a desktop console with Sword and Shield, it is always interesting to revisit the beginnings of the franchise, more specifically: the return to what was already a return. Pokémon Red and Blue were a paradigm shift for the entire world of video games, and this can be synthesized in two reasons: the arrival of the JRPG to the western market and the reformulation of how they should work.

Pokémon Red and Blue fueron un cambio de paradigma para todo el mundo de los videojuegos y esto puede sintetizarse en dos razones: la llegada del JRPG al mercado occidental y la misma reformulación de como deben funcionar.
Fire Red and Leaf Green (Which came to replace Blue, story for another day) updated not only the graphics of this iconic 1996 game, but also embraced all the additions that Pokémon had suffered in the last 8 years: More creatures in the post-game, new types of pokémon and a refined gameplay.

I was lucky to have my first experience with Pokémon in Fire Red, why luck? Because from an aesthetic as well as a gameplay point of view, it is the closest thing to a standard Pokémon, the 101 of this adventure.

Poder se puede, pero nadie asegura que funcionará.

The simplicity of its approach that perhaps for many is a reason to go for more current titles, with better graphics and many more options, is for me the reason why FireRed / LeafGreen is the ideal Pokémon, a pure experience, in where every essential note of Pokémon is present, without unnecessary additions, pure fun.
La sencillez de su planteamiento que quizá para muchos sea una razón para irse por títulos más actuales, con mejores gráficos y muchas más opciones, es para mi la razón por la que Rojo Fuego/Verde Hoja es el Pokémon ideal, una experiencia pura, en donde cada nota esencial de Pokémon está presente, sin añadidos innecesarios, pura diversión.

Throughout my life it is perhaps one of the games that I have completed more times in my life - which is not a small thing, it is not short - and all the reasons are summarized there. I even recently gave it another shot and decided to complete the Pokedex with my brother, and it just takes me back to the best moments of my childhood.
