Beginning of The Never Ending Stress - Yes, Your Grace

The discovery of this game was an unexpected one. I was simply chilling in my cousin's house, scrolling through YouTube to find any kind of distraction when a sudden gameplay caught the attention. The creator of the video made it such an enjoyable gameplay that I couldn’t help but set out to experience it first hand.

The game strikes me as the combination of choicescripts and Crusader King 3, where your choices have a major impact on the direction the story would shape. In Crusader King 3, it was more of text-based events that played out, but in Yes, Your Grace you have the pleasure to roam around the castle, interact with characters and send out agents to certain locations with more in depth experience, somewhat closer to a semi-open world indie gameplay.

We start off as the King of Devon, Eryk who is meant to balance out ruling over his kingdom while making powerful alliances to face off the war which started with the broken marriage proposal. On top of that, Our Eryk has to be the family man and keep up with the task to check-up on the characters every week. The gameplay made me realize how hard it is to raise teenage daughters. Like it's one thing to take care of their basic needs, completely another thing where you had to tackle the emotional tantrum. Heck, even ruling over the kingdom and planning war strategies are much easier than dealing with teenagers.

So, our King has three daughters and as the game is set in the medieval era, daughters are not fit for the succession, so the only time they come handy is through powerful marriages. I really didn’t care much about the betrothal part in CK3 as there was no confrontation, let alone much interaction with the so-called daughters. But here, the developer would put you in that awkward situation where you had to break down the news to your thirteen years old and face their loud, helpless and rude emotional tantrum.

I mean, I get it, it sucks to be married off to a stranger at such a young age, but the king literally has no option left. It’s either you marry a younger prince of a foreign land by the blessing of your parents, or you marry a Vikings thug after they win the war and take over your fathers kingdom. Either way, The elder daughter of King Eryk is bound to be doomed. Not her fault, but that’s her fate, unfortunately.

If you want me to pick any specific character that I liked in this game, then it has to be the poor old king Eryk. Everyone is either set out to exploit the poor king or annoy the shit out of him. I don’t like any of his daughters sadly, if it was up to me, I would’ve given them a good beat down to be more respectful towards their stressed out father. Being a parent is a hell lot of a challenge man, this game is teaching me that.

I've had this game on my list for several months now but haven't gotten around to playing it because of imagining what you mention, which is constant stress.

I was expecting the game to just develop the decision making, but if it goes further by showing you the reaction of the characters and giving you freedom to move around the castle interacting with them, it's much better than I expected. I must get the strength to play it 😅.

Ohh man.. You will be in for a roller-coaster ride XDD as the game progress, the decision you makes could either make you or break you :v

Also, I didn't expect to find people who plays this kind of games like me. It's a delight to know that I am not alone :')) Please do drop some similar types of game suggestions, if you don't mind.

I don't know of any similar to this one in particular 😶, but if I leave aside the whole empire thing and just rely on decisions, I could recommend the first Beholder game, which is about a father supporting a family in a dictatorial country, where some decisions have somewhat serious consequences.

Hmm I think I have this in a humble bundle or something, might have to check it out!

Yes, please do. It was surprisingly a well planned game.
