I love the visual style it has, I like this kind of grim/bloody/disturbing games or whatever you call them haha. Plus, I also love the retro style, so this combination is a wonder for me. I'm surprised to see it's a current release for PS5/Switch, I'd say it's not very common to re-release arcade games like this.

This game in particular is a stand out as not many games were released with this art style, this much gore, etc. I have no idea why as it was seemingly popular upon release.

I agree, the graphics are awesome. I figure the release of older arcade games would eventually pick up as releasing old home console games individually was always an option companies went with.

There are a few other arcade titles like this that we may never see re-released - Night Slashers is more like Final Fight and Streets of Rage while Mutation Nation is also but it has a more cartoon look to its gore-fest.

oooh nice. I never played the arcade version but the TG-16 was one of my favorite consoles of the early 90's and of course Splatterhouse was so graphic at the time that I am kind of surprised they got away with releasing it in the US. While that was a fantastic game on the TG-16 I have heard stories about the arcade being better. Might have to check this one out.

This was the game that made me want a TurboGrafx-16 console. It sat on the shelf for months while I saved up to get the console. When I did, I could not afford the game too, I had to wait another week and by then, someone bought the game. I was heartbroken.

I only experienced this one through emulation. I enjoyed the hell out of it too.

lol. just watched the video. I recall the water level being significantly more difficult than whoever made that vid did it. They clearly had a bit more practice than I did.

I agree completely. They also owned the room boss, something I only ever beat once or twice in all my years playing this game. Still, I love this game and play it often, knowing I will not get past that damn room anytime soon 😂
