As a long life gamer I have seen a lot of progress in gaming over the years, gaming has revolutionized the entertainment industry by far and has taken interactive entertainment to the next level and closer to a (wait for it...) Metaverse. 🎮
Currently there is a hype about the rush of moving forward and for good reason...
The gaming industry had been stagnant for a while.
The MMOrpg industry had been dry and empty aside from a few small exceptions and generally we have seen a lot of abuse from companies who seek to drain the players just for giving them a bit of hope regarding the dream. What's the dream?
Well this is where the Multiverse Comes into play, the point of an MMOrpg always was a specific type of shared-environment game. That's the promise. Always had been.
Just keep in mind that this promise can easily be hyped and capitalized on.
There are of course those with the purest intentions, ones who really wish for that dream to become reality. It is important to be able to tell the difference between those who really wish to realize the idea and those who do not.
So many projects I have witnessed come and go over the years, from EverQuest "Next" to bigger projects such as ArcheAge to black desert online, some of those projects are doing okay but are nowhere near "the dream" we all may have in mind.
There is currently some projects being done which are closer but mostly focus on the stocks aspect of things.
Honestly most are going to probably tank down after a while and of course we may see interesting things in the future. The industry is learning and that's the take away here, we see many interesting ideas done wrong and then come determined souls taking those ideas and going them better and better.
So let's hope for the best, currently I have been playing card games, I really like the NFT ones but they are yet to reach the gameplay quality of other known games such as Legends of Runeterra or Gwent (which is really good by the way, check it out). Gods Unchained is closer than any other, splinterlands and other hive games seem to be well in the way but they are mostly built around the Hive and Steem logic of things. Which I don't know how I feel about, the Hive one-time payment for permanent content feels lacking and seems to promote content that can be less of effort than it would otherwise if people aimed for long lasting success (which is where YouTube succeeds and 3speak fails) at least for that aspect of content type but I digress.
Thanks for reading so far, have a wonderful day 😊👍
