Hi Hive Gamers and everyone out there! Let me tell you a bit about my journey as a YouTuber.
I was just a simple guy with a regular job before. We weren't rich, and honestly, I never wanted to be rich either. I’m okay as long as I have what I need for daily life—as long as I can support myself and my other responsibilities, especially when it comes to spiritual matters.
People think that being a YouTuber means you’ll earn a lot of money right away—but actually, it’s not that easy.
I started back in August 2019. During that time, I was looking for some passive income. I had a regular job and had already tried different types of work—none of them easy. Working really is tiring, haha, but that’s how it is, right? Any job can be exhausting. 😅
But then I asked myself: “What kind of work is easier? Something on my own time, where I don't have a boss?”
I started doing research, and during that time, I became interested in YouTube. I didn’t know back then that it was actually possible to earn money from YouTube. Vlogging wasn’t super popular yet, and the platform wasn’t fully explored in that way.
I researched how to create my own YouTube channel and watched videos about it. Eventually, I gave it a try. I started by thinking of a name—went through a few name changes. Then I had to decide on a niche.
That niche became gaming. And because I didn’t want to show my face or talk on camera, I found out it was totally okay on YouTube, as long as your content is unique, original, and provides value to the viewers.
So, I decided to focus on gameplay walkthroughs. I started recording my games—different ones—and uploading them to my channel.
My very first upload? 0 views. Maybe 2 views, and I’m pretty sure I was the one who watched it. And I only had 2 subscribers—and they were my parents! Haha.😅 But I kept uploading. Slowly but surely, that’s what I did.
To be honest, when I was starting, I didn’t give it my full focus because I had family responsibilities and other important matters. I just started it and uploaded videos whenever I had free time.
The downside? Sometimes I’d enjoy the games too much, and it would eat up a lot of my time. Good thing I eventually learned to set boundaries and be mindful of how I use my time.
As months went by, I started learning how to make thumbnails, how to use Canva to design them, and how to interact with the YouTube community. Eventually, I started getting 10 views on some videos— and honestly, that already made me happy. But I wasn’t monetized yet.

With close to 1000 videos, if you were to work out the number of hours you put into this compared to the payrate, is it worth it? Or are your just totally getting burned out?
Actually, I deleted the other 4K YouTube videos due to some issues. Honestly, yes there were times I felt burned out, but it didn’t last long.
Holy crap! That's a lot of videos! I used to post my Twitch stream replays on YouTube and it never got any traction. I never got any traction on Twitch either, come to think of it :P

Well, you're on the right track. I was just thinking about that today, about content creators not only on YouTube but on other social media platforms like TikTok or Instagram... people see it as easy, but it actually requires sacrifice and perseverance for quite a while before achieving the desired success.
