Water spinach is a vegetable that is fast to harvest and easy to grow in our area. Besides pak choy. We can even grow water spinach without any fertilizer at all.
They are even sometimes called wild vegetables because they spread so easily and grow abundantly.
You can watch some of my videos about planting water spinach from start to harvest, on my YouTube channel.
Coincidentally, this time, I will harvest water spinach / kangkong accompanied by a new cat who just came to my house. (It seems like he was thrown away by someone in my garden).
I will cook water spinach this time for lunch, with shrimp ingredients. With simple seasoning but truly yummy since my husband approved of the taste.
First, I harvested enough water spinach. Also, I harvested some red chilies to complete my cooking this time. You can use red bell peppers as a substitute for chilies.
I also harvested kaffir lime leaves and bay leaves. These two leaves are super herbs that make cooking smell heavenly good!
THE INGREDIENTS
- 250 grams of shrimps
- 2 bunches of water spinach
Seasoning
- 5 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
- 3 cloves of small red onion, finely chopped
- red chilies
- 3 bay leaves
- 3 kaffir lime leaves
- 2 tbsp of sweet soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp of salt
- 1/2 tsp of pepper
- 1 /2 tsp of coriander powder
- 1/2 - 1 cup of water
COOKING INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 5
SERVING
Serve water spinach side dishes with rice, topped with sesame seeds! Oh, sooooo good! The key to authentic flavor comes from kaffir lime leaves and bay leaves. Combined with garlic and soy sauce! It's all perfect!
In fact, I often use the same seasoning for different vegetables. Such as broccoli, and also pak choy. So, do you want to try my virtual restaurant? :) See you!

Your garden full of my fav vegetables. you are really blessed!
oh, thank you my friend. 😊
What a lovely looking garden. Your decision to plan vegetables instead of flowers is awesome so that your family can consume fresh vegetables. I was amazed at how easy water spinach is to grow and care for
Since your garden in out in the open, how do you keep pests from eating the leaves? If they do come, how do you safely remove them without getting chemicals on your vegetables?
I love shrimp with veggies. Lovely post with easy instructions and not a ton of ingredients, but look flavorable.
Thanks for sharing. Take care and have a good start to your weekend.
I also plan to grow flowers to keep the ecosystem well but not as much as before because I focus on kitchen consumption for my family
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a great day
Lovely thought to consider the ecosystem and add flowers. Take care.

I'm not a big fan of spinach, but I love shrimp and this dish is very well composed (and beautiful as well).
in fact, water spinach is really differnt from spinach. Just similar name. :)
Your garden is like a produce section at grocery store but so much better. Now if you had a pond you could have all the ingredients, hehe.
Glad your husband approved I'm sure most would actually. It looks pretty tasty 😋
Having some herbs in my own garden is truly a treasure for me who loves cooking :)

Steam KangKong is enough for me. LOL,
