Rainy Season-Gardening is slowly back

in HiveGarden2 months ago

Greetings to all! The rainy season has finally arrived in the Philippines, marking the return of gardening season.

Here are the plants that we started growing and some of them we still have in our garden.

Spring Onion
Initially, my husband strategically positioned the pots containing spring onions along the side of our house. Until he creates a designated area for the sole purpose of storing his spring onion pots.

Cucumber
At the back of our house, near the drainage area, a cucumber plant spontaneously emerged without human intervention. We believe it sprouted from discarded seeds. Initially, we neglected it, not providing any support for it to climb. However, to our surprise, it thrived and bore many cucumbers. Since only my husband enjoys cucumbers, I suggested he share them with his mother, who is fond of them.

Okra(Lady’s Finger)
In his ongoing enthusiasm for okra, my husband embarked on a second planting endeavor. This time, he chose a spot beside our house to sow a few seeds, eagerly anticipating the harvest to come.

Avocado
At the back of our house, we previously had three avocado trees, and now my husband has planted additional ones.

Lemons
It has been approximately 6 or 7 months since my husband planted our lemon trees, though I cannot recall the exact date.
In my previous garden blog, I mentioned using a mixture of human urine and water as an organic fertilizer. This approach has yielded remarkable results. As you can observe, the plants have flourished, becoming healthier and more productive. The urine has served as a natural nutrient source, promoting vigorous growth and an abundance of fruits.
During the rainy season, worms often attack the leaves of my lemon tree. To prevent damage, I meticulously inspect the tree each day after watering.

Mangosteen
In our front yard, my husband has recently initiated the cultivation of Mangosteen trees, in between of our lemon trees.

Pechay
In addition to our other plants, my husband began cultivating pechay, a vegetable that I particularly enjoy. Pechay stands out as one of the easiest plants to grow and has become one of our most popular items for sale. Since we cannot consume all of the pechay we harvest, its popularity among our customers allows us to share this delicious vegetable with others.

Papaya
Hubby is now growing Papaya. He is planning to plant it in our front yard.

With that, I conclude my garden blog for today. I hope you enjoyed reading my article.

Thank you for reading, and may divine blessings be upon us all.
