Yes, it was Christofleau who suggested that the optimum size for a coil was 30cm but I think any size will have an effect of some kind. I was really just excited to make as many of these coils as I could, so went for a slightly smaller size. The quantity of copper in the coil is important too. So if you are able to get your hands on thicker copper, smaller coils will become more effective. Check my last post for some updates on that.
