In my last month's garden journal I had all my plastic bottles ready to plant my seedlings when they were big enough. I did all that last week.
Then I was going away for a short trip the next day and didn't want to keep them outdoors in case they suffered a double shock of the cold weather and being repotted. They ended up taking over half of my spare room.
Luckily most of them survived during the three days I was away. Only two of the bok choi died and all the tomatoes are growing very healthy.
I moved some of them outdoors last night and this morning I spotted some aphids on one of my bak choi!!!! That is so annoying!! Last year I bought some neem oil based on recommendations from a few knowledgeable gardeners on Hive. I will have to find that and make some spray before the situation gets out of hand.
I also planted more seedlings, to space out my harvest. I figured I'll get busy this year and see how much crop I can reap, if anything at all.

Should I have played one of my devious tricks to confuse everyone with my tips? I can next month, to make it more fun 😃. Maybe I shall, maybe I won't, we shall see.

I am very envious of the tomatoes, and also happy for you. I planted tomato seeds three times so far. The first time, I put them out to early and the cold killed them. The second time, I went away a few days and someone did not water the seedlings for me. So I am on my third try. You seem to have a green thumb! And thank you for the contest.
oh dear! luckily you know what the issues are so you can avoid them, I'm sure they will be fine this time round. the worse thing is not knowing why they die on you. Last year my tomato fruit stayed green for a long time and then just went black and died. Not sure what happened, hopefully we'll both have better luck this time round.

Pak choi.. bok choi... my seedlings never grow :-( they sprout, they grow a little, then they get their second leaves and pass away :-( dont know why
that's so frustrating. do you think it might be due to weak seeds? luckily mine have always grown very healthy - if they're not eaten by pests - I put that down to good healthy seeds that was sent to me by another hiver two years ago. Don't you just love it here ❤️

Wow, that's a lot of tomato. I think you'll have a tomato garage sale lol. It was an express contest but very fun.
I hope so to, i have about 30 plants all together but I don't think I'll be able to keep all of them as I don't have the space
Oh how fab Pauline! Your seedlings are looking amazing💖I've been regrowing my Pak Choi from kitchen scraps lol... also leeks, spring onions, cabbage, and lettuce. Picked up some aphiddy-looking things just in the last day or two... thought I'd got rid of them just under the tap lol but I see they are proliferating!!! I'll drop a pic below of the progress!
Hey hey, it was 17!!! yay... no tricks this month... not that I would have known that you played tricks... haha... but I do now... so I'll be mindful next month🤣 this was a fun contest - I'll try to pop back to engage again when the next one rolls around. that's really impressive considering it all came from scraps, I forgot you can do that. You will be harvest it very soon! aphids are really annoying, some say you can add a few drops of washing up liquid to lots of water and spray that on the soil, or wipe down the leaves with it to get rid of aphids. neem oil is also something i pick up previously on Hive to deal with aphids. I'm gonna keep a look out for any on mine as one they start to appear, apparently they spread quite easily. hope yours come under control

Ya i like taking part, it's always a bit of fun.
I usually have to wait until the end of May before I can get my garden in. We just have too much of a chance for frost until that point. It sucks because the pickings are slim by the time I get to the nursery. I guess I need to start my plants indoors for a bit like most normal people do!
When does it start to get warm where you are? I've kept all my plants indoors in the spare room, and only move them out this week. Luckily they're still doing ok. Last year I ended up keeping them indoors by the window sill all the time as the bugs ate them all outside. Hopefully, yours will be ok this year
Well, this week we had temps in the 90 degree range so it has been pretty rough. The problem is it could drop back down freezing at any time!

I got a bottle made up now with a some neem oil in it. as soon as I see the horrid little bugs my spray will be out 🔫

Those darn aphids, they pester us as well! Funny how they make their home in many gardens all over the world😉 Well, I'm glad to hear it was 17, so my eyesight (and counting ability) is still ok😅
