Garden Journal Bi-weekly Newsletter 25th January 2023

in HiveGardenlast year

It's been a long and busy day, I'm struggling to keep my eyes open, but our lovely gardeners are helping me to keep them open with their beautiful garden photos. My apologies if I'm not as focused this week, but I hope the following features will capture you as much as they did me.

As it's winter in the more densely populated northern hemisphere is been quieter on the gardening front here on Hive. Thankfully it seems that Crete didn't get the message about winter, which means we can enjoy @fotostef's update which made me smile. The mandarins at least know what season it is and don't they look amazing!

Thank you @oniemaniego for giving us a tour of your food forest. The joy is the wonderful variety growing. Sadly the weather has meant some seedlings were lost, but I'm still in awe of everything else that is growing.

In contrast to the food forest, @roronoa46's visit to a cucumber garden doesn't have the same variety, but the cucumber plant eye candy is rather lovely. It's still a lovely photo tour that I couldn't pass up.

Another feast for the eyes (and mouth at harvest time) is @aceh.potrait's tour of their small garden. I love it when people don't let only having a small space stop them from growing food. They say when the size of your garden is limited you should grow the more expensive vegetables you like to eat and save money on your groceries, or grow the herbs and spices you love to cook with. I think @aceh.potrait has gone with the second option.

Beneficiaries this time are @roronoa46 and @aceh.potrait.

Hello, there stranger. You've done it again, great update including some wonderful garden posts.
You may have been sleepy when you put this together, but it doesn't show in the end product, great as always.

Aww, thank you. I'm glad you were able to come by and check it out.

Those are really great post from fellow gardeners here on hive.
For my not so vast garden, I just plant those we can cook and some plants that are expensive now in the market.
No matter how small the space is, if you really want to grow some then there's a lot of solutions for it.

That's so true.
What is your favourite plant to grow?

 last year

So far string beans, tomatoes and eggplants.

They are!
How are things growing your way? We've had a mild wet summer compared to usual here.

Not here! It's been over a month of heat wave. One of the neighbours told us last week hit 47 C!!!! I lost one of my laying hens to heat stroke which was a shocker. I'm sure you're enjoying milder weather there

We've been loving the mild weather. I don't miss the high 40s at all. Today was a perfect temperature for the garden. Hoping I haven't jinxed myself now...

Wow, I really feel happy when my post is included in the weekly list. Thank you @minismallholding
