Greenhouse Veggies

Summer now the days get shorter each day until winter solstice. The greenhouse veggies continue to flourish.

IMG_20230625_161642_843.jpg Caged Tomato Plants

The caged tomato plants have blooms now, tomatoes will start to appear soon enough.

IMG_20230625_161617_421.jpg Strawberry plants

The strawberry plants are a little later to bloom in this northern climate, there should be blooms by early July.

IMG_20230625_161839_845.jpg Bean plants and Beet seedlings

In this cloth bag planter are pole bean plants getting ready to climb, and little beet seedlings.

IMG_20230627_191741_174.jpg Peas

The pea plants are standing tall, climbing and grasping onto the string trellis as they go. No blooms yet, but I'm sure they will appear very soon.

IMG_20230627_191754_644.jpg Sunflowers

The sunflower plants are standing tall too, in their plastic repurposed olive containers. Years from now I'll raise chickens, I'll grow many sunflowers for them to pick at the seeds.

IMG_20230627_191817_218.jpg Corn

These corn stalks are doing well, great big healthy leaves on them. Not as tall as in corn fields, but maybe they'll bolt taller when they start to produce cobs.

IMG_20230625_161830_703.jpg Potato Plants

The potato plants have had the most explosive growth all season, but I would expect that considering the size of the seed/potato it was started from. French fries are my favorite way to consume potatoes lol.

IMG_20230625_161811_499.jpg White Onions

The white onion stalks are large, healthy, and dark green. I'm curious to see how many onion bulbs will grow in this cloth bag container this season.

IMG_20230625_161941_845.jpg Carrots

Some carrot plants are filling in one side of this cloth bag. I'm not sure what those other seedlings are, maybe peppers, but that would be too late of a start to produce peppers.

IMG_20230625_162018_447.jpg Beet and Carrot seedlings

The beets in this cloth bag are past the seedling stage, looking healthy, next to them are carrot seedlings for a late harvest.

IMG_20230625_161956_693.jpg Spinach?

These mystery seeds are starting to look like spinach as someone suggested, kale is a possibility too.

Garden Boxes

The garden boxes will have more soil and plants next year, they're in the build up phase this summer. I'll add a hoop row cover to extend the seasons as well, I've been enjoying the season extending greenhouse.

IMG_20230625_160854_189.jpg Gourds

The gourd plants are getting larger and branching out. I'm not so sure that these are the climbing ones, but I do have a string trellis just in case they do.

IMG_20230625_160841_419.jpg White Onion

The white onions in the garden box seem to be doing as well as the greenhouse ones, although they were both planted a little later.

Greenhouse Herbs

IMG_20230625_162137_016.jpg Oregano

The oregano is only growing on one side of the container, but has filled in with the large leaves and healthy stalks. Tomato sauce is my main use for oregano.

IMG_20230625_162128_671.jpg Rosemary

I haven't had a chance to split this one yet, the Rosemary seedlings are looking healthy and keep increasing nodules and size. I'll split this one into two containers.

IMG_20230625_162147_577.jpg Chamomile

I cut and collect all the chamomile flower heads, a few days later they fill back in. These chamomile plants keep giving.

IMG_20230625_161721_257.jpg Herb harvest

Harvested some sage, thyme, dill, and sweet marjoram for drying. Below you can see a simple hanging netted passive herb dryer, some chamomile is in there too.

After drying, they'll be jarred for later tea and recipe uses.

Have a great day!

Amazing garden. It is looking better every time I see it. Strawberries down here have already been harvested. Ourneighbor already pulled theirs off and gave us some a while back. Your tomato plants are looking good. Ours are still munchkins.

Thanks, I'm looking forward to the strawberries, classic summer treat. The tomato plants my wife started from a tomato slice - a thin slice covered with dirt, they all popped up in a circle :)

Strawberries are a treat for sure. That is so neat that they came up in a circle, but it makes sense I guess.

You have one of the nicest gardens I have ever seen.

I really love how you recycle things using them in your garden. Like those containers you have the corn growing in. That is so cool.

It's impressive that you're able to keep up with all of this amazing stuff you're doing.

Well done man, you are truly gifted with all that you do.

Thanks, my humble backyard hobby garden has been lots of fun this season, especially with the greenhouse shelter - I like to check out the growth each day. I've been collecting those containers for a couple years now and was happy to find a use for them, plant containers can be expensive too so it's a win win :)

That's a lot of veggies in a garden. You must have a green thumb to be able to grow them all well. 🌻🌿🌰🍅🌾🌽

Thanks, good soil, water, and a comfortable environment, nature is amazingly abundant:)

Nature does not allow itself to be won over in kindness. Beautiful pictures, it is pleasing to see the care of your plants @mragga

Thanks, it's relaxing to work with the plants :)
