One of the things I have truly enjoyed lately is my backyard gardening. It feels rewarding to plant and harvest.
As someone who goes to work eight hours a day, spending time with myself and engaging in activities I seldom do is an opportunity for me that I always cherish. Living alone has led me to be the better version of myself. I live and survive, all by myself. (But on weekends, I always go home to my real home - my parents.) I sleep, eat, cook, sing - alone and that's never boring. I always enjoy my me-time and being contented with being alone makes my heart happier. And every time I crave for food, I cook whatever fits my taste. Cooking has been one of the most enjoyable things I do. Cooking has also led me to backyard gardening. Whenever I wanted to cook veggies, I would just throw the seeds in my backyard and wait for a couple of weeks for their surprise. True enough, veggies have dominated my backyard.
Outside my kitchen is where this watermelon sprouted and grew bigger every single day. The seeds were not planted. I have tried once drying and planting the seeds but none grew. Without being objective this, I just threw the seeds. Days passed, and here comes the watermelon, growing and thriving. I have harvested several fruits already and have shared it to the people I held closest to my heart.
One of the easiest to plant and harvest is the spinach. Once you've planted the stem, it will grow tremendously that it overpowers your daily consumption already. If it's too much to cook, then, we can share. It's best for everyday soup paired with malunggay and other veggies.
Climbing and hugging on my house fence are these huge bitter gourds in which the seeds were just thrown and showered with the wind. It almost occupied one corner of the fence. Once it bears fruit, it won't stop already. I have harvested several kilos already. Bitter gourd is best paired with eggs. Mix them and fry them, and you're good.
Living in the province is indeed a blessing. You don't have to buy everything in the grocery store. Why buy when we can grow it in our backyard? It's free, unlimited, and healthy.
Thank you for reading. This is all for today. Until the netswriting.
Your garden is great. I agree with you ma'am, living in the province lessens the budget for buying from the food market.
Yes maam. From someone who worked and lived in the city years ago, I could really say that living there was costly. Mas nindot gyud sa atong bukid.
You seem to have figured out a nice balance between working and tending to your garden. I think gardening keeps you grounded and energies you.
Your farm and the crops looked amazing:)
It's true. After a long day at work, coming home and seeing these plants grow and thrive, it's just soooo amazing.
Its actually amazing na even just throwing some seed in the backyard, soon, you can expect a new sprout in there. It's just like here in our place. Yong atumis namin, nakailang harvest na kami, same sa papaya that just grow everywhere. Uwu. Gardening is the best mood booster din talaga no.
Totoo po. Yun bang akala mo lang nagtatapon ka lang, yun pa lang tumutubo at namumunga. It feels greeeeaaaat to see the fruits, harvest and eat.
Your garden is doing extremely green and great.
Your garden has saved you a few bucks
How do you deal with Insects and plant pest
You're right. So far, I don't have any problem with insects and plant pest.
That watermelon looks great and tasty, it's a great space and a great garden to harvest, it's good that you know how to take advantage of it to harvest your own food 😊
Thank you so much! I also take advantage of the healthy soil around the house.

You know, I’m planning to plant watermelon too. I already have bitter melon and potatoes here. I’m also about to transplant my cherry tomatoes soon.
Good to know @earth-worm ☺️ planting and seeing veggies growing is such a great feeling.
Yup! I can't explain the good feelings even though waiting for them to grow took a long time.
