Gardening Season 2023 - Making tomato juice; small fruit harvest

in HiveGarden8 months ago

Hello garden lovers! I hope you're all doing well and welcome to another post. This one is going to be quite random where I'll just share a few photos of recent updates related to our garden related tasks.

This year the amount of tomato juice is way smaller than the previous years. We might be able to harvest another small batch and make more but we'll see how that goes. It's an outdoor activity and my parents are in charge of it but honestly, I need to pay more attention and learn more about the cooking process. Even though the amount of tomato juice this year is way smaller, it's still amazing to have our own and I am very grateful for that!

Another task I had was to collect more fallen plums. We collected everything after the storm so there wasn't much left but doing this every now and again adds more plums for rakija making (traditional Serbian alcohol drink). While I was doing my thing, White was doing his/her thing looking out for any possible prey. I finished with plums quickly and moved to the area where blackberries are so I was quite surprised when White showed up on the tree meowing. This is one of the many feral cats we have around and this is probably the closest interaction we had, haha.

Another small harvest of blackberries, raspberries and cherry tomatoes. Berries ended up in the freezer for winter and cherry tomatoes were left for my breakfast at work (we bring out ==r own breakfast) so I am taking advantage of seasonal goodies we have in the garden.

Here I was just playing around with the camera, my harvest and the green background. Sky also looked pretty for photo taking and every time I am in the garden, I cannot resist taking a few photos.

That's all for today's post, I'll see you soon with another garden update as we are approaching the second half of August! Take care and happy gardening! :)

I'm sorry your tomato harvest wasn't as good this year. Was it because of the weather and storms? Ours was terrible last season!

Yes, the weather and storms took a big part in having less tomatoes harvested but we're going to make more tomato juice tomorrow so it's actually not that bad. :)

What was the main reason your tomatoes didn't do well last season, was it also because of the bad weather conditions?

I congratulate you for realizing the importance of learning the process of cooking tomatoes, learn from your parents as much as you can now, don't wait, my mother knew a lot about plants, I didn't learn from her and now that she died suddenly I am researching.

PS: I loved seeing the kitten in the photos.

I am so sorry to hear that, I think we all feel like we will have time to do/learn things so we leave it for later but sometimes life has different plans for us.

Kitten almost looks like a bodyguard. :)

Wow! I love the color of that tomato juice.

Thank you! Color of cooked tomatoes is always so vibrant, I love it too! :)

You're welcome and have a nice day ahead.
