Urban gardeners can create wonder. My mom is an example. Moreover, I know a handful of people who are growing so much on their small rooftops that they have stopped buying some specific vegetables and herbs.
There's not much space left where we didn't build highrises. So rooftops of our buildings or apartments became the only option to make a green space.
My mom has had me for over a decade now. She grows so many things in different seasons. It not only occupies her retired time but also provides us with food and the joy of growing something.
Let me take you on a tour.
Guava
She has been producing guava, lemon, mangoes, dragon fruits, and figs in her garden for many years now. As we live far away she can't always share with us but it's a pleasure for me to just look at them
Lemon
This not only makes her happy but we are glad that as she lives alone, she has something that keeps her busy and makes her even happier than us.
Water Pumpkin
She planted pumpkins, long beans, spinach, onion, ginger, etc for this winter. They are growing so well, the bushes are so big now; we are hopeful that they will produce good.
Spinach and Papaya
The garden looks a little unorganized. She is getting old and there's no helping hand. So whenever we come visit her I help him pick off the weeds and reorganize the pot the much as we can.
Ginger and lemon
I usually go up on our rooftop alone and walk around. This simple thing makes me so happy. It's not just a garden to me but a place where I can relieve my anxious self, think peacefully, and reorganize my mind.
Being in a city, and living in an apartment makes me so thankful for these small things in life. This may sound silly but I appreciate it so much because of how much it adds to our life.
The laughter, the small greenery, the home produce, the loving faces; everything makes us recharged.
I'm thankful for everything I got.
The small guava made a story my childhood 😍
Good to know that. We had a huge guava tree in our backyard when I was a child. We used to enjoy the guavas sometimes by riding the tree 😅
Loving the mixture of colors
I too loved the color. Thanks.
