Around the Garden this Week - by Sunscape

Another week has flown by so fast and it is already Memorial Day weekend here in the States. I did finish emptying out the greenhouse of all the plants. The vegetables and the flowers are all in their perspective homes for the season.

I took some time to take a few photos of the plants that were blooming this week. They come and go so quickly with the change in daytime temperatures.

Allium

Aubretta

I have a few mounds of this rock garden plant that blooms right around the same time as my Candytuft.

Azalea

This has to be my favorite flower in the garden scape this time of the year. The vibrant orange just pops against the bright blue sky. I only wish it would bloom all summer long so I could enjoy it more.

Columbine

hive-garden-columbine.jpg

I have a few different Columbine that are scattered throughout many gardens. The bees are so busy gathering pollen from them already.

Deutzia Magician

This shrub has grown to about 4' in diameter and is just lovely filled with flowers on the cascading branches.

Dwarf Iris

Pale Blue

Every time someone comes over and happens to wander about the gardens, they always ask for a division of the dwarf iris.

Dwarf Orange

I divided this clump this spring and shared some with a friend of my neighbors, who was delighted to receive them.

Bumblebee Iris

I just adore this two-toned Iris which always makes me smile when she finally blooms.

Lilacs

hive-garden-lilac-1.jpg

I only have three Lilac trees left in my gardens. Over the years I have lost three due to different reasons. Thankfully, I still have a few to enjoy.

This white-pale pink Lilac is the most fragrant one of the three and this one sits in the garden area where I grow all my vegetables. I plant lettuce, basil, and cilantro underneath it which gives them a nice amount of cool shade.

Tree Peony

The bud is about to open and I could not help but take a picture as I found the contrast very interesting.

Here it is in full bloom two days later and the pollen is ready for the bees to gather.

Species Tulips

Last, but not least, are these little species tulips. They are only 6 inches tall and bloom for about two weeks at the end of spring. I planted a lot of them around my porch about 12 years ago and I only have one small bunch left.

Well, that was my walk about the garden with the camera and I hope you enjoyed seeing some of the flowers blooming this week. Happy gardening to all my fellow Hive friends.

You know exactly how to make my heart sing! What a captivating piece you have written, especially the flower parts!! I do love all of them, but the azaleas are beyond beautiful and my very favorite flower that blooms in the neighborhood is the Magician one!

They are so sweet!!!!

You are too kind, Denise. You are the one with the perfect poetic posts. I love the Azaleas too, but I have to agree with the Deutzia Magician. I am sure the flowers in your country are just as beautiful to see. You should share some photos of them with us as we would enjoy seeing them.

Amazing flowers. There are both gentle and bright, what a variety. And the smell is very pleasant.

The columbine is blooming everywhere in my gardens. I tend to forget the different varieties until they all blossom, lol.

All is so beautiful my dear 😍😍😍

Thanks, Denisse, I do love my flowers like you love your cooking, lol.

So many cool flowers in your gardens! I love seeing all the different kinds you have.

Awe, thank you so much! I do love my gardening and over the years have accumulated many different types of plants and shrubs that I really enjoy. Your gardens must be flowering quite a bit now too. I hope you have had time to get some of your seedlings in the ground before this heat hits this week.

Me too! That's the goal...
