My Journey Doodling a Squishy Little Guy

Hey community members and friends

Here is a bit of my doodle journey with this little guy I’ve been sketching! If you saw my post yesterday, you know I’ve been working on this cute character that I’m totally in love with. I’ve been doodling him a bunch of times, and I want to tell you about my process, how I’m setting some rules for his look, and where I’m at with him now.

I’ve made three versions of him so far, and I’m trying to figure out which one I like best. In the first version, I was still figuring him out, and he looked a bit like a turtle or frog depending on the angle. In the second one, I started setting those parameters for his face and body, and I think he started looking more like him. The third version (the one I shared) feels like the final one for now – it has the stubby limbs, the leaf collar I settled on, and the heart he’s holding. The eyes and snout are just how I want them, super cute and full of joy. I think this version captures the squishy, plushie vibe I’m going for the best, but I still hope to tweak and improve it a little bit more.

I know I’ll keep doodling him to make him even better. I might try a different medium for coloring so I can get that soft, squishy look I’m imagining. I also want to give him a name soon – something that matches his joyful, plushie vibe. Maybe I’ll draw him in more poses or even with other characters! I’m just so happy to see him emerge on my sketchbook, and I can’t wait to keep going with him.
What do you think of my little guy? I’d love to hear which version you like best or any ideas you have for him. This doodle journey has been so much fun, and I’m excited to see where it takes me next!
