A Wintery Ride to Niagara Falls

It was a 50 degree day today and I just couldn't resist taking the motorcycle on a little adventure. I decided on a quick run to Niagara Falls. It really is one of my favorite local rides.

I pulled over just outside the city to change my gloves. It was a brisk ride. My phone said 50 degrees but it seemed much colder. Then again, Niagara Falls could have been a little cooler.

Ironically, the parking lot I pulled into is right across the street from a bitcoin mine. Over that fence there are several trailers filled with mining equipment. I don't know if they were mining though. It was awfully quiet and it's usually pretty loud. A lot of their neighbors complain about the noise.

Took another stop just because I love the back drop here. That's Niagara Falls Canada across the way.

The mist on the left side of the bridge is Niagara Falls in the background.

I don't know what it is about these stairs. They just remind me of a castle or something. Anyway, I thought this was a cool shot.

When I got home, this little lady was waiting for me by the door. This is one of the cats we sort of adopted. They moved into our garage last year during that huge snowstorm last Christmas. They've been living in there ever since. This Christmas will mark 1 year they've been staying with us.

There are actually 3 of them and they show up every day at 9 in the morning for breakfast and 4 in the afternoon for dinner. Maybe I'll do a post about it soon. We've upgraded their accommodations in the garage with an actual cat house for them.

Anyway, considering tomorrow marks the start of December, I was thankful to get out for a nice ride today. I'm not riding all year anymore, but hopefully I'll get a break or two from the weather in December and be able to get the bike out for another ride.

Sort:

Looks like a nice day to be out. We didn't make it to Niagara on our trip, but my son went with his girlfriend. Have fun.

I needed that! Felt good to be out on a short ride.

They're supposed to start building a Super Train from NYC to Niagara Falls but they've been dragging their heels. Supposedly the trip by train would only be 3 hours compared to 9 hours driving. IDK, they've been talking about that for awhile now.

Really bummed we didn't meet up on your trip to the states. It was a terrible summer for me though. Oh well.

Hope you're well! Cheers

I always wonder if Niagara falls is as spectacular in real life as I've imagined. Pretty cool to live nearby to be able to visit that while having a motor trip.

That cat is adorable! "It's breakfast time, hooman, I was waiting for you!"
Thank you for taking them in while there was a storm, have they also become more social as I assume they were strays?

We fed quite a few in our last home where we lived right next to a public stair and when opening our window, strays would gather there. First, to watch our cat in front of the window and later because we saw that some looked in bad shape and we wanted to help them, especially in summer time with the heat we kept giving them water. It didn't take long before the whole colony seemed to know where to get (good!) food and some were sort of our "outside cats" at some point. I was sad to leave them but with 2 ladies of our own which we adopted after fostering them, we are kind of settled.

BTW I know the feeling of realizing that it's already December and still enjoying some very nice weather days. This was not the case in our home country Holland and I pinch myself every day here in Spain that we are so lucky with the weather here.

Have a good week ahead! !PIMP

Living here we tend to take it for granted. It's really something to see though. It's pretty huge and the surrounding gorge and hydro-electric powerplant are really something to see.

Yes they have become much more social. The one pictured and her mother hang out on the property most of the day. Their is also a gray one. All 3 of them are very friendly now. The gray one doesn't like human contact but the other two loved being petted and played with.

That's awesome. I lived in Las Vegas for a while and it was nice have 12 month a year riding weather. I miss that a lot. Spain is a beautiful country I can imagine some of the epic rides you get to take.

Safe travels and thanks for the awesome comment!

I think that's normal because I always thought living at the coast would be something amazing, while now I literally have ocean view from the balcony and it's really a few minutes walking to the beach but you get used to it quickly. I still admire the view every sunrise and sunset though. Gratitude all over :)

Ah that's nice, we started our cat journey in Spain last year by capturing one from the street around the corner and although she was scared first, she needed just a few weeks to become my buddy. Sadly she escaped before we sterilized her and then never returned.. Still heartbroken.. We then rescued the last kitten from the same colony and he was scared even 9 months after we rescued him, when he finally started to relax and purr when he was petted (instead of being petrified for the other 9 months) he got hit by a car :(

We decided not to get them from the streets at a few months age anymore as you can often not get the street out of the cat (or it takes really long) so we started fostering kittens for an organization. Those were also strays but just weeks old when we fostered them.

I can only imagine how cool that must be if you have a motorcycle. Honestly, I already enjoy car drives with that lovely weather. A lot of the rides to another town here are along the coast, which makes it breathe taking sometimes. Still have to discover most of Spain though, we are quite far from a lot of bigger cities here. But I like the idea of being able to go on tons of holidays in the next decade just within Spain and still have things to discover, that's how many beautiful places you can find here.

You're welcome, and likewise!

Some really nice views bro and it's always nice to have someone to come home too, lol.

Good to see you back around and posting!

Thanks. Yeah, I needed a little break. It's good to be back!

Yeah, I hear that, you have to do it sometimes! Missed ya!

I'd love to get back to Niagara Falls again some day. The last time my husband and I were there was like 37-38 years ago! We enjoyed the visit, spending a whole week there right after Labor Day. We especially enjoyed seeing the falls at night with them all lit up! We were also able to visit my old boss (I worked with him in Chicago, then Columbus) as he was transferred to Buffalo shortly before we went up there.

We lived in Ohio then, so it wasn't difficult to get there. Now we live in South Texas, which makes it not as easy to do. Not difficult, just not something you plan on a whim!

It's nice having the Falls in my backyard. We tend to take it for granted. Texas is some beautiful country too. Sooner or later I'm going to take a trip that way. I drove through the pan handle once at night, it looked like a really interesting state. I enjoyed New Mexico too. I love the southwest!

That's right, now winter has come and we see that snow is starting to fall in many countries and the people there are enjoying this season a lot.

No doubt. I love this time of year. Just not so much on motorcycle! 😆
