Una de las interrogantes que nos planteamos a la hora de emprender es ¿lo hago solo o acompañado? Si hemos hecho la lección, de entrada sabemos todo lo que implica emprender, tu idea puede ser genial pero eso no es suficiente para echarla andar.

Por lo general, cuando tenemos una idea de negocios la compartimos con nuestros allegados: familiares, pareja, amigos, conocidos. Por un lado para expresar las emociones que nos embargan y por otro, de manera consciente o inconsciente para validar nuestra idea: cómo la perciben los demás, qué aceptación tiene, por cierto esta etapa puede ser muy reveladora porque de ella podemos obtener distintas visiones que complementen lo que ya tenemos en mente.

También es probable que alguien de ese entorno nos “compre” la idea, que vea en ella una posibilidad real y quiera ser parte de la misma, es allí donde nos surge la gran duda ¿Me asocio con esta persona o camino solo? Según la conseja popular en asuntos de dinero y, el emprendimiento lo es, afecto y dinero no deben ir juntos pues, en cuestiones de dinero cada quien hala para su lado, por lo que existe una alta probabilidad, que el futuro, lo que en principio sirvió de unión se convierta en un punto de problema. Sin embargo ¿Qué mejor socio puede haber que aquella persona que conocemos y le tenemos confianza?

Ahora bien, los problemas pueden surgir cuando de entrada no quedan claras las condiciones. En días recientes mi amiga Silvana me llamó para conversar sobre este tema: Ella junto a su hijo están en este momento creando su emprendimiento.

Ambos son socios igualitarios en el proyecto, conversando sobre ello, una amiga del hijo, se entusiasmó con la idea y quiere ser parte del mismo aportando la misma cantidad de dinero a la sociedad, pero tanto el hijo como su amiga serían solo socios capitalistas pues ambos tienen sus trabajos formales y quieren invertir parte de sus ahorros en el emprendimiento.

A Silvana en el primer momento le pareció una excelente propuesta, pues un nuevo aporte económico al proyecto le permitirá arrancar con mayor fuerza. Sin embargo, ese día me llama porque hay algo en la ecuación que no le cuadra, que le hace ruido, me dice: —Sí, es verdad, los tres vamos a aportar dinero en partes iguales, pero soy yo la de las ideas, soy yo la que va a trabajar ¿es justo que las futuras ganancias sean repartidas en partes iguales?

Esta es una de principales razones por las que buscamos asociarnos, el dinero del cual disponemos no es suficiente para comenzar con “todas las de la ley”, otras pueden ser: las debilidades en algunas habilidades que son determinantes con pudieran ser el manejo de redes sociales con una visión de marketing; conocimientos básicos de administración que te permita llevar los balances diarios, o la carencia de contactos sociales y comerciales que faciliten colocar el producto.

Algunas de ellas se solucionan con dinero, contratando a la persona idónea, el asunto es que de pronto, el capital del cual disponemos es para la inversión inicial y otros rubros como la publicidad la vamos dejando para después, al tiempo que entendemos que esto también es prioritario y es cuando surge la tentación de asociarnos. Pensamos que solos no podemos.

Y es verdad, emprender solo puede ser una tarea titánica pero asociarte solo por solventar económicamente y apresurar los procesos puede representar un alto riesgo. Una de las grandes recomendaciones en este sentido es que “nunca”, “nunca” se puede ir en partes iguales y son varias las razones, entre ellas:

1.- Reza el dicho: “dos cabezas piensan más que una” puede ser cierto, pero la guía, la cabeza de un emprendimiento debe estar claramente definida. Al ser tu idea y el que aportes el trabajo, se supone que seas tú quien la dirijas, hipotecarla al inversionista, de entrada, es un mal negocio, ya que al ser socios igualitarios pues, cualquier tipo de decisión inherente al emprendimiento, deberá ser considerada por todas las partes y puesta en consenso.

2.- En el caso que nos ocupa, donde los socios no aportan trabajo al proyecto, la carga prácticamente recae sobre una sola persona y esa eres tú, pero al final del ejercicio fiscal o en cualquier otro momento tienes que entregar cuentas a eso socios.

3.- Es pertinente tomar en cuenta que a la hora de elegir un socio, el dinero es importante, pero si lo que queremos es compartir cargas y sumarle fortalezas al proyecto, el recurso económico quizás no sea suficiente.

4.- Por otro lado, recordemos que existen otras alternativas que pueden ayudarnos a manejar ciertos costos como lo son por ejemplo: las colaboraciones entre emprendedores y las alianzas comerciales.

De allí que sea conveniente sentarse a analizar las ventajas y desventajas que ofrece cada situación y decidir por la opción que más nos convenga. Como dice @ibrahimc en su post de esta semana Emprendimiento: Corazón o Cerebro. Hay decisiones que solo el emprendedor puede tomar y son las relacionadas con la dirección de su emprendimiento.

On the one hand to express the emotions that overwhelm us and on the other, consciously or unconsciously to validate our idea: how others perceive it, what acceptance it has, by the way this stage can be very revealing because from it we can get different visions that complement what we already have in mind.

It is also likely that someone in that environment "buys" the idea, that sees in it a real possibility and wants to be part of it, that is where the big question arises: Do I associate with this person or do I go alone? According to the popular advice in money matters, and entrepreneurship is, affection and money should not go together because, in money matters each one pulls for his side, so there is a high probability that in the future, what in principle served as a union becomes a point of problem. However, what better partner can there be than the person we know and trust?

However, problems can arise when the conditions are not clear from the start. In recent days my friend Silvana called me to talk about this issue: She and her son are currently creating their business.

Both are equal partners in the project, talking about it, a friend of the son, was enthusiastic about the idea and wants to be part of it by contributing the same amount of money to the society, but both the son and his friend would only be equity partners because both have their formal jobs and want to invest part of their savings in the venture.

At first Silvana thought it was an excellent proposal, since a new economic contribution to the project would allow it to start with more strength. However, that day she calls me because there is something in the equation that does not fit, that makes her noise, she tells me: -Yes, it is true, the three of us are going to contribute money in equal parts, but I am the one with the ideas, I am the one who is going to work, is it fair that the future profits are shared equally?

This is one of the main reasons why we seek to partner, the money we have is not enough to start with "all the law", others may be: weaknesses in some skills that are decisive with could be the management of social networks with a marketing vision; basic knowledge of administration that allows you to keep the daily balances, or lack of social and business contacts that facilitate product placement.

Some of them are solved with money, hiring the right person, the thing is that suddenly, the capital we have is for the initial investment and other items such as advertising we leave it for later, while we understand that this is also a priority and that is when the temptation arises to associate. We think that we cannot do it alone.

And it is true, to undertake alone can be a titanic task but to associate yourself only for economic solvency and to hasten the processes can represent a high risk. One of the great recommendations in this sense is that "never", "never" you can go in equal parts and there are several reasons, among them:

1.- The saying goes: "two heads think better than one" may be true, but the guide, the head of a venture must be clearly defined. As it is your idea and the one who contributes the work, it is supposed to be you who directs it, mortgaging it to the investor, from the beginning, is a bad business, since being equal partners, any type of decision inherent to the enterprise, must be considered by all the parts and put in consensus.

2.- In the case at hand, where the partners do not contribute work to the project, the burden practically falls on only one person and that is you, but at the end of the fiscal year or at any other time you have to render accounts to those partners.

3.- It is pertinent to take into account that when choosing a partner, money is important, but if what we want is to share burdens and add strengths to the project, the economic resource may not be enough.

4.- On the other hand, we must remember that there are other alternatives that can help us manage certain costs, such as: collaborations between entrepreneurs and commercial alliances.

Hence, it is convenient to sit down and analyze the advantages and disadvantages offered by each situation and decide on the option that suits us best. As @ibrahimc says in his post this week Entrepreneurship: Heart or Brain. There are decisions that only the entrepreneur can make and they are those related to the direction of his venture.
