Happy faces of rehabilitated stray animals

in ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITYlast year

It's pics like this that make all of our work seem like it is making a difference and we have walls that are covered with exactly these sorts of cases. Normally when we find these animals they are in a very bad state with very easily treated but also deadly skin diseases and parasites both outside and inside their bodies.

When we take them under our care we treat them for their afflictions and if they are female, we sterilize them in an attempt to curb the out-of-control population in Krabi.

We relish revisiting these friendly faces and for the most part, they are very happy to see us. We like to believe that it is because they are thankful for us saving their lives but I am pretty sure the snacks we bring along with us are rather instrumental in their excitement.

In most of these situations, the dogs and cats were found with extreme cases of mange and other parasite infestations. While not deadly in themselves, these infestations lead to excessive scratching, which leads to open wounds and that brings along a lot of other problems that usually will result in the animal dying a very slow death.

Normally, these dogs are housed at temples and this is why we are able to revisit them. The other dogs that we have treated in neighborhoods can prove a lot more difficult to find but the residents will update us from time to time letting us know that they are still in good health. We have been fortunate to make friends with residents of these neighborhoods who do all they can to be our eyes on the street to let us know that everything is ok.

We simply don't have the manpower to be everywhere all at once so we are therefore furever grateful that these people in the communities continue to help us out and keep us updated. We do periodically go and check up on the dogs because parasites don't just stop attacking because of a one off treatment. Seeing as how parasites aren't just going to give up, we have to remain vigilant in our defense.

We consider all of these pups and the kitties that accompany them to be members of our Krabi Animal Welfare family. We have had some setbacks in the past 4 years but we will always carry on doing all that we can for the less fortunate animals of the region. There is likely a similar organization operating near you so we once again ask for you to donate your time and/or money to help them in their cause.

Good luck with your initiative! I hope to be rich someday, so I can start saving stray pets! But for now, I need to work hard😂. By the way, good luck!

If i was ever rich I don't think there is anything more rewarding that I could do with the money than to help those less fortunate than me. Although I will admit that I would be a lot more likely to help dogs than people, probably.

Hive Power Up Day - June 1st 2023

I love to see how they change when all the bad things in their lives come to an end. Many of my dogs have before and after photos. It reminds me that everything we do was not in vain

yes that is true. We have a lot of those in our records including the very lucky dogs that got adopted to a home overseas. It is wonderful to see how happy they look later.
