Siblings Bonding After the Super Typhoon Tino

Happy Saturday Hivers!

Even though we siblings live in Talisay, we stay in different houses. During the typhoon, we were each in our own houses or boarding houses. When the network went down, we had no news or communication with each other.

But after a few hours, we were able to communicate, and praise God, we were all safe. It’s really not easy being apart from each other, because when things like this happen, you can’t help but worry about what might have happened to your family.

After the typhoon, we had to endure having no electricity. But two days later, some parts of Talisay already had power, and luckily, our sister’s place was one of them. So those of us who still didn’t have electricity gathered at our sister’s house to charge our phones and take a bath.

We really enjoyed sharing our personal experiences during the super typhoon. That’s just how we Filipinos are, no matter how severe what we go through is, we still manage to laugh. It’s truly one of our traits: despite the calamities we often face, we can quickly recover because of our resilience and our positive outlook on life.

After our little chat, we decided to go out and see the areas that were flooded. When we witnessed the severely flooded areas, we all fell silent and felt sad because we saw people who were exhausted from cleaning their homes, and others who were in deep pain because their houses had been washed away. It was truly heartbreaking to see.

Since the situations we saw were so stressful, we didn’t go home right away. We agreed to eat out and chose a small mobile food stall by the roadside. If you’re in the Philippines, you don’t have to spend much on food because you can find many of these roadside stalls, and they’re very affordable.

We are thankful to God that our entire family is safe. That’s why we always make time to bond with each other. Family is truly very important, everything else can be lost, but not your family.
