Padungan Hotel in the heart of the city

The Padungan area in Kuching city is where the centre is. There were a few criterias to consider when I book a hotel.

• Location to places of interest
• food
• availability of an elevator
• non smoking hotel
• huge space with a window

And so this time we went to stay in

This hotel has a guest parking lot which is just around the corner. I rented a car so I needed a parking space. It is pretty hard to get parking around the city. Then you need to make sure you have the scratchable coupons.

RM 300 for three nights or roughly USD 70 for three nights. Usually, at hotels around Malaysia, there is an RM 50 deposit fee or roughly USD 13 before you enter the room. This is just to ensure that the guest doesn't steal any towels, pillows and etc.

A lot of the shoplots are in its original form since they were constructed very long ago. Many of the businesses here are family owned. A shop where a man in his 80s still repairing bicycles as I walk pass by.

However, they did not give a lot of goodies such a toothbrush, shower cap which usually are given at hotels even budget hotels. But it is alrite. For the price and location and cleanliness of the room.

Walked here for a while. This is what the row of shops look like. The government did not renovate this area to give it the traditional feeling as you walk pass by these shops.

The most affordable food in the city is the economy rice. You can usually choose a variety of food.

My wife had a plate of sweet potatoes, yam and Brinjal. It's great to eat vegetables at times.

There are restaurants all over the city so if you do head to Kuching someday from Kuala Lumpur, you do not need to worry about food. The food in Kuching is also quite affordable. A wallet friendly city.
