Full of Greens Mini Garden

in ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITY3 years ago (edited)

Friday has arrived once more, and we were just at home due to the gloomy weather. Later, my husband and I decided to pay a visit to my father-in-law.

As soon as we arrived, he greeted us and we had a little conversation. My father-in-law then suggested that we visit his little garden.

I was in awe at the back since it wasn't like this the last time I was here, the plants were still little, others hadn't blossomed yet and now it's already bearing fruit. Here are some of the plants in my father-in-law's mini garden.

I am such a fan of Coconuts that I clap in delight whenever I see one. I adore its soft flesh and the sweet flavor of its water, not to mention how beneficial it is to our health. It contains antioxidant and is** high** in fiber and fat and low in carbs, it could help control your** blood sugar.

Since the Philippines is a tropical country, Coconut trees are abundant. I asked my spouse to cut me one because it tastes so nice when it's raw and fresh. My kids enjoy eating coconut as well, but they appreciate it much more when I add milk to it.

In the Philippines, wild chili or "siling labuyo" is always present around sauces, especially if the person enjoys spicy foods, because this chili is extremely spicy. My daughter enjoys spicy foods and will always request more wild chili when making a dip sauce. I think she got that from her grand father.

Long peppers, also known as "sili espada" in Philippines are longer than wild chilis. My father-in-law enjoys spicy foods, so it's only natural that he has two types of chili in his mini garden.

Next, he has Bok Choy (Chinese cabbage), also known as "pechay" in the Philippines. My husband and his father enjoy cooking with "pechay". They live healthy lifestyles.

Here are some of the plants that can be seen in his mini garden, aside from having these plants, the view also of his garden's location is great. His house is up the mountains so it's on a high place and imagine early in the morning pouring water to your plants then looking at the view of Cebu, it's very relaxing.

My father-in-law recycled the discarded bottles and cans and made them into a pot, while my husband worked on the fences and my son assisted him in painting them white.

He has Sweet Potato, which we call "kamote" here, and we enjoy it boiled, Turmeric and Aloe Vera. I, too, have Aloe Vera in my yard and use it on a daily basis for my face and hair. There are numerous advantages to using Turmeric and Aloe Vera. I'm glad my father-in-law decided to plant these.

11.jpg

This is Lemon Basil, also known as "sangig" in the Philippines and it is used to add flavor to your food. Because "sangig" is high in antioxidants, it can also be used to make tea.

I also have a small garden in our house but it's literally small, lol, my father-in-law has a larger space, so he can plant as many as he wants and anything he wants. Before leaving, I asked for some chili to bring home for my daughter.

It's great to have plants around you since they help you relax and redirect your mind away from troubles or unpleasant thoughts.

And that was my Friday. How 'bout yours?

That's all for this blog. Thank you for sparing your time visiting my blog. Adios!

All those things are welcome ingredients in my kitchen. There is no such thing as too many chilies and coconuts 😁. Thanks for sharing this with us.
