Kuala Lunmpur National Museum mini exhibition - Muhammad Ali vs Joe Bugner

in ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITY6 months ago (edited)

Last weekend, my family and I went to the Kuala Lumpur National Museum. It was an unplanned and impromptu visit to the museum. We were on our way to Pertama Complex and we were passing by the National Museum. I told my wife that it has been more than 10 years since I last went to the national museum, and I think it would be great if we bring our kids there one of these days.

She then told me that today would be great since we are nearby, and we are not in a rush to get to Pertama Complex. I totally agree with her. I proceeded to exit left and then head to the National Museum's main entrance. Upon entering the car park, we straight away went to the ticketing counter. The tickets for adults were MYR2 and free for kids under 12 years old.

In total, there is five (5) main exhibition which is Seni Kraf Orang Asli (Aboriginal Art and Craft), Sejarah Awal (Early History), Kerajaan-Kerajaan Melayu (Malay Civilization and Government), Era Kolonial (Colonial Era), Malaysia Kini (Malaysia Now). We went to all of the exhibitions. Other than the main exhibition, there were smaller exhibitions such as Mystic and Supernatural, The King of Fruits, Currency of Malaysia, and many more.

One of the smaller exhibitions that caught my eye was there "Muhammad Ali versus Joe Bugner". The exhibition is located in a small section in between the Sejarah Awal (Early History) and Kerajaan-Kerajaan Melayu (Malay Civilization and Government) exhibition. Sadly, there was not much explanation available at the exhibition. I had to perform a Google search to get more info on the match. Below is what I have found on Wikipedia and Youtube:

After leaving the museum, I noticed that I did not take any pictures of the boxing gloves that were worn by Muhammad Ali & Joe Bugner.

Pictures from my visit:

"Muhammad Ali and Joe Bugner fought two boxing matches with each other. Their first bout took place on 14 February 1973, and the second on 1 July 1975. Ali won both matches through unanimous decisions on points. The 1975 fight with Bugner was for the undisputed world Heavyweight title owned by Ali, it was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, making it the first and, as of 2021, only world Heavyweight title boxing fight held in that Asian country, and it was the last bout Ali fought before Ali's Thrilla in Manila, his third fight with arch-rival Joe Frazier."
