Mon(day)omad self portraits

in Black And Whitelast year

Monday, the least popular day by the majority of people.
I hate it as well, because it has always been associated with "responsibilities," going to work, going to school, the end of a carefree weekend...

When given the choice of choosing my days off, I would always go for Tuesday and Monday, only to escape all the scowling faces and unpleasant moods. No matter what day it is today, I frequently forget to count them, I am no longer employed however.

In addition to the fact that I don't count the days anymore, I don't even count the portraits that I don't remember the last time I made, which is a shame because I enjoy them. It's a cloudy day, and I'm feeling a little nostalgic. Also finding that fewer and fewer friends are calling, but that's understandable given how far I am from — distance is a real thing.

Acceptance is a hard thing...

This is me, and my favorite floor-to-ceiling window with long drapes.
My favorite linen dress.

That's why I've decided it's time to make Monday better than it is, the day for the #monomad challenge, and I'm attempting to enthrone myself in a few favorite communities so you know where you'll find me.

There are so many of them that it's easy to become confused and disoriented. It took me a year or so to figure out how [almost] everything works, where I feel best and what I enjoy writing about.

Drapery that alludes to darkness, sometimes I put it on - sometimes I take it off, similar to the sun when it sets behind the clouds, and then it dazzles you with its brilliance.
When you least expect it.

I had planned a series of double exposures, but my elbow protested to the last few days as [dummy] had forgotten about the earlier fracture.

Then I remembered that I have an overlay option on the camera, the first attempt to merge two photos into one ended with me being beheaded, and in the second one, only my legs were visible.

Random, but conceptually appealing.

@monochromes, this is my entry for the #monomad challenge, and thank you all for your time and interest in what I do.

Great pictures

Hi @terry.aya , many thanks.:)

 last year

Congratulations. Today's #monomad third place is yours.
Thank You very much for participating and for being part of the Black And White Community!

Weeeeeeeee !🍻

Pretty!! 😍 You and the light compliment each other very well. I like how that gown goes with the drapes.

I've been thinking of doing some self-portraits. Trying to figure out how to rock the "distinguished" look as a woman getting older, getting more greys, getting more wrinkles, getting more waddles... By the way, you have a very enviable jaw line. Mine is like a deflated linen sack wrapped around an old mandible.

I seem to prefer draped dresses..

Shut up....

I've been thinking of doing some self-portraits.

Never tried before? Do you have trigger?
Do not over think it, it's not science, no one has to see them.:D

I have a little bit but I want to do a project where I embrace my face and all the lifelines that are slowly being etched into it. Don't have a good light setup, though. Do have Nikon Snapbridge. It's fun except for when it's a pain in the ass.

That last time you were flowy, wow! Good thing you had stomach cramps. Those are amazing photos.

You are the brave one, me like it a lot!

When I was at the beginning of self portraits project first I captured the parts I'm 'confident' about. 😂
After that came the rest, I like low key or faceless phs not that I don't like my face - on contrary, but poker face, same expression mostly.

Hands, neck and shoulders are mine most inspiring parts to play with....
Choose the emotion and bring it out, explore the scenes and if you have huge window - use it, dimmed lamps, candles....

Snap bridge is a great way to go, except for being mind f*** as you have to seriously hide it..

Oh yeeeeaaaaaah you just reminded me of this. I used snap bridge and it was a pain in the ass but the journal helped hide the phone.

You have a lovely face, poker or otherwise, but I think it's neat that you play around with contours instead of making every photo a selfie.

I do have a huge window, but I also have neighbors across the way that can see inside. And an endless stream of nosy, demanding crows. Probably take the candle route. Can't see the snapphone in the shadows!

THAT was an awesome post! You had orange hair and Pilot was so young!
[pardon Pilot, but true], those lumps are they gone?

You can also use a lamp with a strong light, just throw a white canvas over it to soften the shadows.

Can't see the snapphone in the shadows!

Exactly 😎

Lumps are still there but passed the fibroid test with flying colors, so not cancerous. Even got smaller a year later. Yay!

Pilot says wtf he's still young. Now he's not talking to me.

Really beautiful shots!
The search for transparency in the dress gives that tone of sensuality that only black and white can make pure art.
The last photo, where you can imperceptibly notice the line of the legs and the dress (most likely achieved by double exposure) is truly stunning!
I am waiting for more!!!

You said it all!

(most likely achieved by double exposure) is truly stunning!

Accidentally, totally unplanned....😅
Double exp...is simple way, strong effective photography and it's definitely goes hand in hand with b&w.
Thanks for the feedback!(:

Gorgeous!! You, the dress and the window!

When given the choice of choosing my days off, I would always go for Tuesday and Monday

100% agree, I also love grocery shopping on monday morning when there are only old/retired people everywhere:)

Gorgeous!! You, the dress and the window!

[second hand magic both the dress and drapes]

I loved making fun of my frowning friends who had to go to work at any cost :D
hihi....

for sure!!!
:)
