Physical limitations did not make Rohani Yusuf (43) complain and regret her life. The woman who was once a teacher, filled her life by learning to paint autodidactically and now she is known as a surrealist painter who already has many paintings.

Rohani never thought she would pursue a profession as a surrealist painter. The change happened in 2008, when the doctor diagnosed her with rheumatic bone disease and acute ulcers. Due to rheumatic bone disease, her fingers shrank and changed to "abnormal".

Instead of complaining and blaming God, Rohani slowly learned to paint autodidactically through social media. She communicated with several national painters.

"I discussed and asked them. And the painters were not stingy with their knowledge. They shared knowledge and information," said Rohani.

Her devotion to the world of painting has made her name famous. Many celebrities in Indonesia know her and order paintings from her. Let's just mention a number of ministers in Indonesia, including former Cabinet Secretary, Dipo Alam, who is also a painter.

I introduced Rohani to Mr. Dipo Alam. The former minister who is also a painter and writer finally donated a large number of canvases and writing equipment with the best quality to Rohani. Mr. Dipo also asked Rohani to combine the hokokai batik motif from Japan with Acehnese motifs.

"I received several hokokai motifs sent through several links. Some are difficult, but some are easy and can be combined with Acehnese ornaments, for example, bamboo shoots or pucok reubong and bungong seulanga or kenanga flowers (Aceh's motifs)," added Rohani.

On this occasion, I show several #monomad photos of Rohani when receiving students participating in the independent student exchange. I display several of Rohani's paintings in a black and white photo parade.

Thank you for your support.[]
