Back In Black (& White)

Haven't posted much in the monochrome recently, should probably remedy that. Ain't no rhyme or reason to this collection other than they's from the (neighbor)hood in the past couple weeks.

Tax dollars at work! A neighbor had a rather large, dying tree in their front yard that was afflicted with a worsening addiction to shedding limbs without warning. The neighbor went with the 'thoughts & prayers' method of dealing with this but relapses were just about as common as school shootings. Eventually the city had enough and staged and intervention. When the cats fled under the bed yesterday I headed outside to find a crew cutting the tree down and had to snap a few.

Was staking out the neighborhood polling place recently, just waiting impatiently for something to happen when I noticed this fellow across the boulevard. He'd had to stop his mobility scooter to light a cigarette, which is what caught my eye. Didn't get the camera up in time to catch it so I waited for him to do it again but instead he surprised me with a 24 oz can of beer. Was good to see someone making the best of such a gloomy day.

Welcome to the neighborhood! Wandering up the street one day, I noticed a rather curious window. Could make out that there was a piece of paper with a pistol on it taped in the window but couldn't read the text. Curiosity got the better of me and I snapped a shot to see what the magic of a zoom lens could do for me.

Before you break into my house.
Stand outside & get right with Jesus, tell him you're on your way!!

Wait a second . . . This person liked a meme so much they had to print it out and tape it up in their front window, then covered the window with a puppy blanket. Still not sure to make of it other than that humans are an interesting bunch.

It was nearly dark and I'd already called it a day and was heading for home when I turned a corner and came upon these two sitting on the side of a house. Noticed the one on the left staring at me and was trying to figure out if he was throwing sign and why when I realized he just wanted his photo taken. Soon as I brought the camera up he got his buddy to look up from the phone so I snapped a couple shots and then went on home.

I am not a morning person. Full stop. Pretty sure I've seen more sunrises because I've not yet made it to bed than because I woke up early enough. The day before we set our clocks back sunrise wasn't until 0810, which seemed late enough to be worth getting up early for, managed to actually make it down to the park to catch it from the overlook. That was nice but it was actually the hike back down that I encountered some golden light. Morning people are a dependable bunch and there was hardly a wait before my unwitting volunteer took their spot in the shot.

Think the kids call this overlook & chill. I was there just to chill after having an encounter with a young buck waving a loaded pistol around but couldn't pass up the photo opportunity. *And now if you will excuse me, my bed is calling and I must answer.

Mine too! 😂 Thank you!

They are very good shots and good moments captured. Each photo tells a story, it is a pleasure to appreciate them carefully.

Thank you :) Single serving stories!

Love your hood, just like mine although probably cleaner

Ha, cleaner you say? Never would have expected that 😂 It's an interesting place for sure, I'm rather fond of it.

All the photos are very good, but that first photo is really exquisite in terms of visual impact and contrast @coloneljethro friend... WOW!... A round of applause!
