Greetings to all Hive friends and colleagues! I want to share with you a series of photographs of St. Christopher Parish. For some time now I have been interested in architecture and its styles, so I have had the opportunity to learn some things and I have chosen to take pictures of important structures in this aspect.
I met this parish through a page of cultural interest on instagram where I also upload my content and decided to get to know it and share it with you in this photographic style because I found it interesting how it would look like under the parameters of black and white, monochrome, shadows and contrasts.
The parish was built in the late 1800's and has a clearly neo-gothic architecture. One of the things that caught my attention was that it has only one tower and it seems that the second one was cut off.
Saludos a todos amigos y colegas de Hive! Quiero compartir con ustedes una serie de fotografías sobre la parroquia San Cristóbal. Desde hace un tiempo he despertado el interés sobre la arquitectura y sus estilos, de esta forma he tenido la oportunidad de aprender algunas cosas y he optado por tomar fotografías de estructuras importantes en este aspecto.
Conocí ésta parroquia a través de una página de interés cultural en instagram dónde subo también mi contenido y decidí salir a conocerla y compartirla con ustedes en este estilo fotográfico ya que me pareció interesante como sería su apariencia bajo los parámetros del blanco y negro, monocromo, sombras y contrastes.
La parroquia fue construida a finales de los años 1800 y posee una arquitectura claramente neogótica. Una de las cosas que más me llamo la atención fue que solo posee una torre y pareciera que la segunda estuviera cortada.
Inside the parish there are different altars including the main altar which is made of marble and to which I took some pictures but it seemed to me that the place had much less light than other parishes or cathedrals I have visited, however at the time of my visit it was fortunately without people.
For some of the photos including the cover photo I used the wide angle mode to be able to cover as much space as possible including the ceiling. The photos were taken in color and then edited and converted to black and white and I played a bit with shadows, black and white details, exposure and contrasts.
The program I used for editing is lightroom.
En el interior de la parroquia se encuentran diferentes altares incluyendo el altar mayor el cual está hecho de mármol y a los cuales les tome algunas fotos pero me pareció que el lugar tenía mucha menos luz que otras parroquias o catedrales que he visitado, sin embargo en el horario de mi visita por suerte estaba sin personas.
Para algunas de las fotos incluyendo la foto de portada utilicé el modo gran angular para poder abarcar más mayor cantidad de espacio posible incluyendo el techo. Las fotos las tomé en color para luego editarlas y convertirlas en blanco y negro además de jugar un poco con las funciones de sombras, detalles en negros y blancos, exposición y contrastes.
El programa que utilicé para la edición es lightroom.
Most of the churches, cathedrals and parishes in the city of Buenos Aires are located in open spaces such as squares, corners or parks, but in this case it is located in a common street between houses and stores, which is very rare and also makes it go unnoticed.
The access to this cathedral is very quick and easy since it is located two blocks away from one of the subway stations called Humberto I that belongs to the neighborhood of San Cristobal.
For the last photos I show you other angles of the facade and the main entrance as well as a silhouette shot focusing on the neo-gothic style tower.
La mayoría de las iglesias, catedrales l parroquias de la ciudad de Buenos Aires están ubicadas en espacios abierto como plazas, esquinas o parques pero en este caso ésta situada en una calle común entre casas y comercios algo que es muy raro y lo que hace que también pase inadvertida.
El acceso a esta catedral es muy rápido y sencillo ya que se encuentra a dos cuadras de una de las estaciones del subterráneo llamada Humberto I que pertenece al barrio de San Cristóbal.
Para las últimas fotos les muestro otros ángulos de la fachada y la entrada principal así como también una fotografía de la silueta enfocando la torre de estilo neogótico.

Quite modern, even for neo-gothic. I would think there were some redesigns on the exterior, but I might be wrong.
It is possible that there have been some redesigns as you say, however there is very little information about this parish. Thanks for commenting 😃

One can never really go wrong with monochromes and neo-gothic architectural works.
