Hola hivers.
Hello hivers. Today in #monomad challange I talk to you more about the culture of the Cuban.
Since I was a child I have always been told that there is no one like the Cuban. There is a different sensitivity and love for others, maybe the economical hard situation have influenced people to help each other and in a community people recognize them selves as big family. So, yes, Cubans are friendly and helpful. But, when the concern for the neighbor is too much, it becomes what we could say...a sport. “Gossiping" in Cuba is a national sport!
It is so normal to see the neighbors behind the window looking to see who enters the house next door and at what time. Or the group of neighbors gathered in a park evaluating everyone who passes by: "Did you see her? Who is that guy she is with now? Did you see her clothes?” And of course, there is the retired grandfather behind his newspaper, who watches over the order of the block and criticizes the disrespectful effusiveness of the younger generations.
All this peculiar panorama and with a tremendous realism, were represented in the sculptures of local artist Martha Jimenez. You can find them in Plaza del Carmen in Camaguey City, just in front a huge two towers cathedral with same name. The artist is also responsible for the sculpture of the water carrier descended from slaves who drags his cart along the cobblestones to remind us that: the Cuban is also mestizaje and a lot of effort.
