Hello monochrome #Hive friends!... Today I bring to share with you photos with one of my favourite themes. It's about my beloved stray dogs in my town. These charming pets abound in my streets and -as you know- they are a fundamental part of my photographic portfolio... So let's have a look at these photos of our furry and snub-nosed friends!....

¡Hola amigos monocromáticos en #Hive!... Hoy traigo para compartir con ustedes fotos con una temática de las que más me gusta. Se trata de mis amados perros vagabundos en las calles de mi pueblo. Estas encantadoras mascotas abundan en mis calles y -tal como ustedes saben- forman parte fundamental de mi portafolio fotográfico... Así que ¡Veamos estas fotos de nuestros peludos y narizones amigos!...

I want to explain something: Montalbán, my town, is a place where the existence of dogs on the streets happens in a significantly different way compared to other places. Here stray dogs are seen as "belonging to certain neighbourhoods" and the people around them feed them, look after them and even give them names. It is also very common for many of these adorable "communal pets" to sleep during the night in the backyards and on the doorsteps of neighbours' houses. So these are animals that simply roam the streets during the day in constant interaction with people, but they always have someone to lend them a hand and help them to continue to brighten up our streets... This is, to me, a really lovely thing and shows the good heart that many people have here...

Hay algo que deseo aclarar: Montalbán, mi pueblo, es un lugar en donde la existencia de perros en las calles ocurre de manera significativamente distinta en comparación a otros lugares. Aquí los perritos callejeros son vistos como "pertenecientes a determinados vecindarios" y las personas a su alrededor les alimentan, velan por ellos e incluso les dan nombres. También es muy usual que muchas de estos adorables "mascotas comunales" duerman durante las noches en patios y umbrales de las casas de los vecinos. Así que se trata de animales que simplemente deambulan durante el día por las calles en una constante interacción con las personas, pero siempre tienen quien les tienda la mano y les ayude a seguir alegrando nuestras calles... Esto es, para mi, algo realmente encantador y demuestra el buen corazón que muchas personas tienen aquí...

This is a town where more than 70% of the people live in poverty. However, that does not stop many people here from being willing to care for and feed stray dogs. In some neighbourhoods people even have "first aid kits" with medicines bought together to give to their dogs when they get sick. And when one of these dogs becomes permanently ill, it is certain that he or she will be cared for until the last moment by someone in one of the houses in the neighbourhood. The relationship is close enough that "mourning and grief" is felt when one of these animals dies among the people on their street. It is also common for them (especially children) to name this pets with peoples's names. For example, in recent days, a woman and her son of about 6 years old came up to me and said: "Sir, please take a picture of Juan" and pointed to a young dog sitting in the street.... Oh my goodness, they called him Juan!... This is beautiful!

Este es un pueblo en donde más del 70% de la población está en situación de pobreza. Sin embargo, eso no es obstáculo para que muchos aquí estén dispuesto a cuidar y dar de comer a los perros callejeros. En algunos vecindarios incluso las personas tienen "botiquines de primeros auxilios" con medicinas compradas entre todos para dar a sus perros cuando enferman. Y cuando alguno de estos perros enferma de forma definitiva, es seguro que será cuidado hasta el ultimo momento por alguien en alguna de las casas de su vecindario. La relación es lo suficientemente cercana como para que se sienta el "duelo y pesar" cuando uno de estos animales muere entre las personas de su calle. También es común que (especialmente los niños) les den nombres de personas. Por ejemplo, en días pasados, una mujer y su hijo de unos 6 años se acercaron a mí y dijeron: "Señor, por favor hágale una foto a Juan" y me señalaron a un joven perrito sentado en la calle... ¡Oh cielos, le han llamado Juan!... ¡Esto es Hermoso!

I particularly could not understand my streets without the stray dogs... I often speak to them, referring to them using names I have learned from neighbours or even giving names from my own imagination. In return, lovely dogs always respond in some way and make me feel that I am very much in company while I wander around the streets of the village taking photos.

Yo particularmente no podría entender mis calles sin los perritos callejeros... Suelo hablarles, referirme a ellos usando los nombres que he aprendido de los vecinos o incluso dando nombres de mi propia imaginación. En correspondencia, estos perritos siempre responden de alguna manera y me hacen sentir que estoy muy acompañado durante mi deambular por las calles del pueblo haciendo fotos.

I don't know for sure how this "miracle" happened... I mean the fact that I am here, in these streets almost every day, having a lot of time available to wander around and take pictures... I love all this, I actually feel lucky... So I hope it is God's will that I can continue to do this until it is time for me not to be here in this world anymore... The years of watching our communal street dogs, have taught me -among other things- that: "Nothing in this world is eternal" so we have to do the best we can while we are here...

No sé a ciencia cierta como ocurrió este "milagro"... Me refiero al hecho de que yo estoy aquí, en estas calles casi a diario, teniendo mucho tiempo disponible para deambular y hacer fotos... Amo todo esto, en realidad me siento afortunado... Así que espero sea la voluntad de Dios el que pueda seguir haciéndolo hasta que ya sea el momento de no estar más aquí en este mundo... Los años mirando nuestros perritos callejeros comunales, me han enseñado entre otras cosas que: "Nada en este mundo es eterno" por lo tanto hay que hacer lo mejor posible mientras estamos aquí...

They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape 3.6.3.}
