Real devotion!

I actually find this guy almost impressive. Every morning and I guess also the evening he arrives, spends a long time in front of the stupa, before sitting down for meditation in the inner courtyard.

He is certainly on the pure devotion side if meditation can be a scale from intellectual to that, but in contrast to others he seems to also be very much in control of himself. Admirable!

One day this monk turned up, spending maybe 15-20 minutes as a statue, turned against our coffee shop where we met twice a day.

He looked quite serious, no fiddling with a smartphone here!

Many things can work! Maybe he is listening to binaural beats?

Or maybe he prefers to block all the sounds from the hustle & bustle completely, we are all made a bit different when it comes to what works I guess 🙂

Whenever someone sits on the base like this they tend to get some attention, in this case she was even told to move by the guards. Maybe that is why the previous one had found a more shielded spot?

I have never spoken to him, but he is around the stupa a lot, always resting and just looking at people I guess?

It is impossible to say if he is using any meditation technique or not, but he exudes a lot of calmness anyway...

Some young people have taken up this tradition again, but for the most part its the older ones that use prayer wheels.

These are based on the same principle of rotation as for walking around the stupa. In addition of course doing a very repetitive, circular movement for decades should do something to the nervous system, brain and mind!

That is it for now! 🙂 #monomad
