Hello everyone, my dear friends in the black and white community. It's Menati, and I'm back with another photoshoot and blog post. I had a male model who wanted some solo portraits on his wedding day, so I decided to work with natural sunlight.
We started by using the windows in my studio that face the sun. With a few great poses, we captured some really strong images. To add variety, I took both detailed close-ups and full-body shots. I tried to interact with my model in a way that would emphasize his pride, prestige, and serious, masculine demeanor.
There's nothing quite like getting to know your models and capturing them at their best.
I also used a fill light behind my model to add detail to the shadows and create a more balanced exposure.
Next, I brought in a single-seater sofa that looked like a royal chair. I had my model sit on it with his legs crossed, exuding a sense of confidence and elegance. I also used a bouquet of flowers as a prop to add interest and give my model more options for posing. This is a great tip for any photographer: props can really help your models feel more comfortable and give you more creative options.
I also captured a detail shot of the wedding ring going on his finger. This was a fantastic way to add a personal touch to the photos and tie them in with the overall theme of the shoot.
Natural light is an incredible tool for photographers. It offers a soft, flattering quality that can be difficult to replicate with artificial lighting. For this shoot, I focused on creating a high-contrast look with deep shadows and bright highlights. I was able to enhance this effect even further in post-processing using Adobe Camera Raw and Photoshop.
To create a more timeless and dramatic feel, I decided to convert the images to black and white. This helped to simplify the composition and draw the viewer's eye to the subject's expression and body language.
How well did the beard suit his style and give him a more masculine and powerful feel? I often grow a beard myself and I think it looks great. It's a matter of personal taste
Thank you for reading my post. I hope you enjoyed seeing the photos.
