El Legado Cultural Hispánico es una obra escultórica de la artista norteamericana Anna Hyatt Huntington y fue donada a Cuba por su esposo, el hispanista y filántropo Archer Milton Huntington.

Se levanta en un parque, muy cerca de las Calles Ayestarán y 20 de mayo, en el Municipio habanero del Cerro y, como se puede observar al fondo y a la derecha, desde ahí se divisa cercana la pirámide del monumento a José Martí, en la Plaza de la Revolución.

Veamos otra vista del otro lado del parque.

Aprovechando que ya estaba allí, y que el señor, urgido por satisfacer su necesidad fisiológica, siguió su camino, saqué mi cámara e hice algunas fotos más de esa hermosa obra.

Noté que el bronce estaba muy sucio. No tengo idea qué tiempo debe pasar para que adquiera estas marcas y se vea así en ese estado deplorable, pero intuyo que lleva mucho sin un bañito.

Sin embargo, la fotografía en blanco y negro le ayuda, ¿verdad?

Siempre me ha llamado la atención el nivel de detalle de esta escultura.

*** Como dato interesante:

Anna hizo varias réplicas de la escultura, a partir de su original en yeso. Ésta es de bronce, al igual que otra ubicada en la ciudad de Valencia, España.

Existe una tercera, de aluminio, en el Campus de Moncloa, de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid «La Docta», Madrid, España, y el resto en distintas instituciones culturales de los Estados Unidos.

The Hispanic Cultural Legacy is a sculptural work by American artist Anna Hyatt Huntington, and was donated to Cuba by her husband, the Hispanist and philanthropist Archer Milton Huntington.

It is located in a park, very close to Ayestarán and 20 de Mayo Streets, in the Havana municipality of El Cerro and, as you can see in the background and to the right, from there you can see the pyramid of the monument to José Martí, in the Plaza de la Revolución.

Let's see another view from the other side of the park.

Taking advantage of the fact that I was already there, and that the man, urged to satisfy his physiological need, continued on his way, I grabbed my camera and took some more pictures of that beautiful work.

I noticed that the bronze was very dirty. I have no idea how much time must have passed for it to acquire these marks and look like that in such a deplorable state, but I guess it has not been cleaned for a long time.

The black and white photography helps it though, doesn't it?

This is my entry for the #Monomad Challenge.

I have always been struck by the level of detail in this sculpture.

*** As an interesting fact:

Anna made several replicas of the sculpture, from its original in plaster. This one is made of bronze, as well as another one located in the city of Valencia, Spain.

There is a third one, made of aluminum, in the Moncloa Campus of the Complutense University of Madrid "La Docta", Madrid, Spain, and the rest in different cultural institutions in the United States.
