The markets in Aceh leading up to Ramadan are full of people selling meat, of course buyers will also flock to the market to buy meat for household needs. This tradition of buying and selling dagi is called Meugang Day.
Meugang Day, which is celebrated before the holy month of Ramadan, before Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, is a tradition of the Acehnese people to buy and cook beef to eat with family and relatives as the main menu ahead of one month of fasting.
