I remember more than 15 years ago, when for the first time I began to venture into the world of photography, all because I saw for the first time a university course related to photography, and among the requirements by the teacher, was that we had to have a mechanical reflex camera.
Luckily, I found an old minolta camera with interchangeable lenses, then I had to buy a roll of film for the camera, but in black and white, and at that time and much more nowadays, it was very difficult to find such photographic roll, for the simple fact that we were already immersed in the digital era, there were already cameras with sd memories. After so much searching, I found an Italian man, who at that time had an Italian restaurant, and in that establishment he had an old sign that said, sale of photographic rolls, without thinking I bought the rolls that I could afford.
Recuerdo hace más de 15 años atrás, cuando por primera vez comencé a incursionar en el mundo de la fotografía, todo debido a que veía por primera vez una asignatura universitaria relacionado con la fotografía, y entre las exigencias por parte del profesor, era que debiamos tener una cámara reflex mecánica.
Por suerte, encontré una vieja cámara minolta con lentes intercambiables, luego debía comprar un rollo para la cámara, pero en blanco y negro, y en ese momento y mucho más en la actualidad, era muy difícil encontrar dicho rollo fotográfico, por el simple hecho que ya estabamos sumergidos en la era digital, ya existían cámaras con memorias sd. Después de tanto buscar, encontré a un señor italiano, que en ese momento tenía un restaurante de comida italiana, y en dicho establecimiento tenía un viejo letro que decía, venta de rollos fotográficos, sin pensarlo compré los rollos que me podía costear.
Once I had both the camera and the roll of film, I began to do my practices, to go out to take pictures, I had already studied beforehand about the iso, aperture and shutter settings, but even so I remember that my first pictures, after the development were totally lousy, or were very overexposed or were out of focus, and of course those rolls were lost, with bad pictures.
However, I kept practicing and as I had several rolls of black and white film, I had the luxury of trial and error with all the remaining photographic rolls, until I could train my eye more, to know the settings for each scene that I found and that I wanted to photograph. It was simply a matter of practice, to be able to reach that result, and perhaps you may wonder why the photographic rolls had to be in black and white? It was because the teacher had recommended it, to practice black and white photography, perhaps this was the push to get me interested in this photographic technique.
Una vez que tenía tanta la cámara como el rollo fotográfico, comencé hacer mis prácticas, de salir hacer fotografías, con anticipación ya había estudiado sobre oa configuraciones del iso, apertura y obturador, pero aun así recuerdo que mis primeras fotografías, luego del revelado eran totalmente pésimas, o estaban muy sobreexpuestas o estaban desenfocadas, y por supuesto se perdía esos rollos, con malas fotografías.
Sin embargo seguí practicando y coml tenía varios rollos en blanco y negro, me pude dar el lujo de hacer ensayo y error co todos los rollos fotográficos restantes, hasta que pude entranar más el ojo, para saber la configuración en cada escena que me encontraba y que quería fotografiar. Simplemente era cuestión de práctica, para poder llegar a ese resultado, y quizás se pueden preguntar, el por qué los rollos fotográficos, tenían que ser en blanco y negro? Era porque así lo había recomendado el profesor, de practicar fotografía en blanco y negro, quizás esto fue el empuje para que me interesara en esta técnica fotográfica.
Now, you may wonder why I relate all this anecdote, without being a direct reference to the photographs shown. It is because in the first place, this anecdote is part of my beginnings in black and white photography, and secondly because I always think, as everything has advanced so fast, that even cell phones can take pictures, at that time 15 years ago, there were already cell phones that could take pictures, but not with the resolution of today's cell phones, and even record in video formats such as full HD, but not with the resolution of today's cell phones, and even record in video formats such as full hd or 2k, no doubt it has been a significant advance in the world of photography, and I also think that taking pictures in the 90s, 80s, 70s or much less, was not an easy task, it required a lot of practice and also the costs were higher.
Ahora, se preguntarán por qué relate toda esta anécdota, sin ser una referencia diresta a las fotografías mostrada. Es porque en primer lugar, esta anécdota, forma parte de mis inicios en las fotografías en blanco y negro, y en segundo lugar porque siempre pienso, como todo ha avanzado tan rápido, que hasta los celulares se pueden sacar fotografías, en ese tiempo hace 15 años atrás, ya existían celulares que podian tomar fotografías, pero no con la resolución de los celulares actuales, e incluso grabar en formatos de videos como en full hd o 2k, sin duda ha sido un avance significativo en el mundo de la fotografía, y también me pongo a pesar, que hacer fotografías en los años 90, 80, 70 o mucho menos, no era una labor fácil, requería de mucha práctica y también los costos eran más altos.
On the other hand, I can say that all these pictures were taken with a Canon T3i camera, which is already obsolete, with almost 12 years of existence, but basically it is a camera that has good performance to take the pictures I want, maybe later having some savings, I can buy a current camera, but in itself is not a big difference, beyond more current features such as wifi connection and other features that can offer a new camera.
Por otra parte, puedo decir que todas estas fotografías fueron tomadas con una cámara Canon T3i, que ya es obsoleta, con ya casi 12 de existencia, pero en lo fundamental es una cámara que tiene buen rendimiento para hacer las fotografías que yo deseo, quizás más adelante teniendo ciertos ahorros, podre comprar una cámara actual, pero en sí no es que sea una gran diferencia, más alla de funciones más actuales como conexión de wifi y entre otras funciones que puede ofrecer una cámara nueva.
