My experience finding an Axie Scholarship

Axie Infinity is the one the biggest NFT games out there that was featured many times on media outlets around the globe. In the Philippines, it was even featured in a primetime magazine show, which led to its rising popularity in the country.

The game, which consists of three (3) cute creatures, called axies, are needed to play the game. When it was launched, you can easily buy cheap axies that are good, but when I discovered it, the prices skyrocketed. So I looked for a manager (someone who lends an axie team in exchange for a cut in the earnings) that helps people in need of scholarships (a program that managers have that lends axie teams).

It was way back May 2021 that I started searching for a scholarship program, and it has been difficult since then. I spent days looking for ways to find a scholarship, and so do other people like me. Finding one has been harder and harder every single day, until I found a manager that encourages you to watch to earn points, that will be then used to redeem a scholarship. I watched for months and months to gain the required points, and I finally got to redeem for the slot. Seems easy, isn't it?

That's when reality hit me hard. I am just one of the hundreds of people waitlisted for the program. I am just one of the people that the guild (the group that offers the scholarships) will have to provide an expensive team. I am only one of the people who want to atleast make ends meet, and try to ease the poverty that we are still experiencing. Jobs don't suffice, and having an extra income when debts are piling and the inflation rates are skyrocketing do really help a lot. And while redeeming the points that you collected may look like it is the end of it all, your grit and patience will still be needeed, as taking all the people on the waitlist can also take lots of resources. I am still waiting, and sometimes, it can get tiring.

But the scholarship isn't the main purpose of all the hours that I watched for the points. It is how we build the community. It is all about the relationships we make, and the people that we get to meet. It is about finding out your strengths, and using it to build the community that you are in. It is about finding ways to contribute to the betterment of the entire ecosystem of the metaverse.

If it is not for the Axie Infinity community, I wouldn't know the people that led me to Hive.
