6 Buildings of Barcelona

A theme to bring things together, a photo essay if you will.

Todays topic buildings of Barcelona. Not famous buildings, not the tourist attractions, just the things that one sees when one is wandering aroud camera in hand and eye trained for these sorts of things.

Let's start with the traditional, what might be in you mind when I mention Barcelona, the classic European tiny street with four or so storeys, tiny balconies, washing drying, flags to mark some sort of border between the public downstairs and the private upstairs.

The more serious, the sort of building fitting for a serious business like insurance. Art Deco, but built 25 years to late, so clean so streamlined.

The more modern, maybe 1980's maybe 90's, more faceless, a quiet, maybe slightly menacing tone.

Simple lines for a building no one cares about - I would guarantee no one looks at this and thinks, that's stunning, but I like it's simplicity, I even like the dirt, the fact that no one bothers to clean it tells me it's most likely empty

Even more modern, not simple this time, this time we are trying to create different plains, different looks, using different material, no this building wants to be seen.

This one definitely wants to be seen, it might even be considered a tourist attraction, a simple building yes but transformed by artist Frederic Amat, okay this is the back, the 'less interesting' side, but I don't think the eyes work with the classic front, but does with the 'age of surviellence, dark facless box of the side of the building.
