We Have the Land Rover!

in Road Tripslast month

After months of waiting, we finally picked up Buttercup from Southhampton, in the UK, and drove her to Jamie's Mums. It was a fairly easy drive of a couple of hours and the people at port were so friendly and helpful.

If you're new to this blog, we shipped it from Australia to the UK - yes, slightly crazy, but there ya go.

Whilst no one could believe it, especially after the surfboard incident, she was in perfect condition. The port guys helped us put the boards on the top and we were away. Jamie was nervous as he wasn't sure how she'd handle driving on UK roads but she was great - he'd done so much work to her before hand. She sat nicely below the speed limit at 60 miles an hour but I think she'd do a bit more on the m27 just to survive.

The wierd thing was that it didn't really hit us until Jamie said: 'look, that's an iron age hill fort' (Clay Hill, Salisbury) and then I was like - omg we are driving our freaking Landie in ENGLAND!

If you've been following our instagram @roving_tracks you'd know all this already as you would have seen the drive up to Jamie's Mum's via the narrow lanes.

At last, there she was, like she'd always been. Quite the emotional reunion. I was emotional enough as it was as I'd just spoken to my folks about Dad's new chemo next Friday (the cancer has progressed) and went straight to fight or flight mode. Needless to say I went to bed early.

I tell ya what it was pretty good to wake up in the morning and find her there. So awesome. Now we're spending a few days getting her ready to go to Morocco.

With Love,

Roadtrip to Morocco? Oh, that’s the dream ☺️

Oh man it SO is, cant believe it.

I had to check the map to see how long the drive would take. One day without stopping😂 This is definitely going to be an unforgettable adventure ☺️

Oh yeaaaah! It's back! Can't wait to follow the adventures in the UK. What's the program for preparing Morocco?

Lol we are in Spain at moment, a bit behind ahahahah

Finally you are complete! :D

Oh you understand so well!!

I know this is a couple weeks behind when you are now, but I sure hope your dad is doing relatively ok. Hope Morocco is going well.

He just had first round of gentle chemo. Hoping that will help. It was that or palliative care as it had grown.

My thoughts will be with him, and you.

Really hope I get to see you xxxxx

Oh we have been trying to figure out how. We have a mate with some land just north of you as well . But it's three hours from algerciras!!!!! 😔😔😔😔

Sweet wheels, that's a really cool looking motor. I'd say she's a rickety drive if you go any way fast though?

Best of luck on the road trip to Morocco, that sounds amazing!!

🙏🏻 🙏🏻 for your Dad.

Jamie's sorted her so she drives as best she can. I'm pretty comfy right now on a four hour drive but it's not great when it's hot as there is no air con!

Ooooooo, no air con, that's tough. Thank God for windows eh 🌬️ 🍃

I’ve been sporadically catching up on yours and Jamie’s Land Rover experiment, that’s amazing and enjoy your journey across Spain to Morocco, what a great thing to do.

Though sorry to hear about Jamie’s parents battles right now.
