I sometimes wonder why does people say school is a scam and some other people say school is not a scam. I think I have come to realize why these two things are being compared to each other. From the look of things and the way schools are treating their students these days, one would conclude that school is a scam, if you agreed with me on the points I will give. On the other hand, if we are to consider the usefulness of going to school, you will agree with me that school is not a scam.
Why do we regard school as a scam?
For some time now, I have been complaining about the way schools collect money from their students in the name of making payments for some petty dues, and sometimes some of the money the students have paid was supposed to have covered it. Imagine this scenario: a student in Nigeria is to pay a tuition fee, whose amount varies. After this payment, he or she will still be ordered to pay for practical dues, which we sometimes feel can be normal because of the apparatuses the school has gotten for use.
After the payment of these practical dues, as a student, you should be rest assured that you are not to make payment for anything related to practical again after that payment, but instead, when it is time for the practical, it is still the students that will provide that they will use for the practical after making payment, and if any issue should happen in the process, they will still be asked to pay after they have made payment for dues.
In a school setting now, nothing goes for free; even if you are paying millions as your fee, you will still pay for things that are not needed, but the school will just feel they need to collect them because that is what some of the lecturers or teachers depend on as side hustles. Now to the point why school is not a scam.
Why is school not a scam?
They say education is the best legacy you can give to anyone. No matter how wealthy or influential you are, you will see that education is the best legacy. We see today that some of our senators and governors in power will demand their schooling certificates before they can be verified as legal candidates for an election. Aside from seeking jobs in today's era, if you are not educated, there is no spot for you.
Sometimes, luck works, but it's not always the case because no one will want to employ an illiterate person in an organization because they will feel like they cannot perform well even if you have better knowledge than those who went to school. They will rather prefer an educated person to an uneducated one.
If we should look at some of the things happening, we would not want to go to school again. Even myself, I sometimes think about these things, especially when I get frustrated by the pressure from school. School can never be a scam; it's just the way those that are in there are handling it that makes it look so hard for the students to cope with. Education is the best legacy; try to get it.
To me i will bodly say that school is a scam and to justify myself. i will say the present education way is making school look like a scam due to high price of everything and finding it hard to study under unfavorable condition
