School outside the classrooms-My School and How it’s Different From All Schools

in Hive Students Hublast year (edited)

I’ve thought of many ways to engage in this contest without stepping out of the subject matter. After writing this, I just realized that the reason why it took me a long time to figure out what to write is because I wasn’t thinking the right way.

The thing is, in the context of architecture and infrastructure, I don’t think my school can make it to the top 100 schools in my country. It’s not uncommon to see people refer to my university as a secondary school when they are talking in the context of infrastructure. If you compare the University for Development Studies (UDS) to the University of Ghana in terms of infrastructure, no one will blame you if you say UDS is a developing elementary school.

In fact, even me as an old student of the University for Development Studies(UDS )will not recommend the school to any student who is a big fan of infrastructure. In summer, during afternoon lectures, students are encouraged to come to lectures with two or more handkerchiefs, the reason is that it’ll take only 20 minutes light out to turn the whole lecture hall into a baking oven, a room temperature that can boil an egg and fry yam. which happens frequently.

Well, the fact that UDS is a university of infrastructure Maguire does not limit its ability to transpire and aspire as one of the best Universities in Ghana that inspires the lives of many students in the country and beyond.

In terms of educational curriculum and its impact on students, UDS can be the best most diverse, and unique institution in Ghana and beyond. Our popular Third Trimester Field Practical Program (TTFPP) stands out when we are discussing academic research excellence and experience.

TTFPP is my favorite thing about UDS. During TTFPP, students of the university from different faculties and departments are sent in groups to rural communities in other regions of the country very far away from the school, to live, study, and research about the various communities they are sent to.

These rural communities lack basic social amenities such as water, toilet facilities, proper schools, and most importantly electricity.

data collection in my TTFPP community

Here, the students have about 60 days to collect data on the demographical structure of the community including the population, ethnicity, number of households and size, the social amenities available in the community, and the land topography, soil types, and vegetation.

During these periods, supervisors from the university visit the students unexpectedly to assess student's residence and work attitudes.

Students are expected to work interdependently among themselves and the community leaders to create a comprehensive report on the various tasks they were given which they’ll present to a group of coordinators and supervisors from the university at the end of the trimester in the community.

TTFPP is the best thing that happened to me at UDS. My favorite thing about UDS TTFPP is that during the program, every student is challenged to learn a great deal of proactivity, interdependent teamwork and most importantly thriving in limited living and learning conditions.

This’ll be all about UDS TTFPP from me today. I hope you enjoyed reading about my school. Tell me what you think of my school and the TTFPP.

Nothing motivated me to study in UDS, I certainly did not regret going to UDS and I’ll definitely recommend UDS to anyone who’s not susceptible to stress and trauma. Why not🤷🏿‍♂️

These are beautiful pictures! The UDS TTFPP group looks like a cool family to me - although those are some super hot class rooms you’re talking about 😅

Whenever I make it out to Ghana, I would also love to harvest some cassava - and to try it, I don’t think I’ve ever tried cassava!

Those classes are hot, trust me.

And yes Of course there’s a lot of cassava in Ghana. We can’t wait to have you in the motherland! 🤗

Man, I gotta be honest, I don’t think there’s anywhere on earth I’m more excited to visit. I feel like it will be in 3-5 years, and I will post about it ahead of time and hopefully we can all orchestrate a big Hive party, and it will be super rad! maybe some adventuring and some cassava (what does cassava taste like, by the way?) - anyway, man, yeah dude I’m stoked I really do hope I make it to Ghana someday. The more I learn about the region and the more people I meet from there, the more I fall in love with it. Thank you!!

I’m very excited to learn about your love for the motherland. Ghana is amazing, I hope you make it here very soon. The whole Ghanaian community here will be more than excited to host you.

What does cassava taste like? Lol I didn’t know that people in California do not eat cassava, silly me.

Well, cassava is much more like yam but more starchy. A fried cassava chips would taste almost like the kfc yam chips. But we don’t fry cassava in Ghana. When cassava is fresh We can boil it and pound it into a swallow called fufu. We also peel and dry cassava which we grind into cassava powder and use it for other swallow dishes.

Man, that sounds delightful! Perhaps I will see if I can find any fresh/raw cassava, and try a Ghanaian recipe!

I can’t wait to make it out there, it really seems like a lovely place!

I don’t think Ttfpp was bad. But will I go back?
Hell no!

Me kraa even the school sef I won’t go!

😂😂😂😂

What a description!!😂😂😂

Your government will soon sanction you for blasphemy 😂😂. Have you built a school before? I'm in the university here in Nigeria and we do have hot classrooms some times when there's light out but I don't think it's enough to fry an egg😂😂😂.

Stop pressing on fine girls and concentrate on your studies so you can become an influential person in the society and restructure your school. I had a good laugh reading this after a hectic day at school.

I’m glad that you could at least get a good laugh at my school.

The thing is that if you’re not in this school you’ll think that I’m exaggerating things but believe me our school is HOT!

About the girls, it’s only small pressing I pressed, and I’m not even pressing anymore.

Thank youuuu so much for your comment. I enjoyed reading that as well .

You're now a new creature 😂😂😂

Thank youuuu so much for your comment. I enjoyed reading that as well .

My pleasure 😊

I must say the TTFP is a system that which was implemented wel would have made UDS a wonderful university. All the same it’s still good and does well to educate students.

For infrastructure, I won’t say anything 🤣🤣🤣

Thanks for sharing

TTFPP is dope. It’s the only interesting thing about Uds

Unlike most of UDS students I actually love the idea of the TTFPP.

Yrh me too. Ttfpp is dope
