Step-by-step instructions of how to receive your Celsius claim on Paypal and Venmo

in CARIB Hive2 months ago

Hey folks, it’s been a long road lasting for more than a year and a half, but the day has finally arrived where you can receive your Celsius claim! With phishing links abound, I thought it pertinent to write a brief tutorial to make sure you receive your tokens without fear of getting phished or scammed (again).

No matter what you had deposited (in my case it was $BTC, $AVAX, and $GUSD), you should get two separate e-mails from “[email protected],” one for a claim in $BTC and a second for $ETH. This applies to everyone, no matter what kind of alt/stablecoins they may have held of Celsius.

Once again, please verify that you do a search for the no-reply e-mail letter for letter, for I’m sure there’ll be attempts for you to drain or phish you out of your funds otherwise. For reference, once you receive your e-mails, they should look something like this:

I personally received both of my e-mails a couple hours apart on February 7th, yet if you haven’t received your Claim Codes by now, I highly recommend that you open up a ticket with Stretto directly here: https://celsiusdistribution.stretto.com/support/tickets/new because, you should have received it sometime within the first 2 weeks of February.

Also, before we breakdown each series of steps that lead up to your claim, please note that you must only pick 1 platform for both of your claims. In other words, you cannot do one claim on Paypal and one claim on Venmo, they both can only be done on the same platform.

How to receive your claims on Paypal

Once you’ve received your Claim Codes, you can login to your Paypal (I chose Paypal, because personally I tend to trust Paypal a bit more and you can also complete your Paypal claim from a desktop).

After going to the Paypal.com website, you need to hit the ‘Finance’ button from the main screen, then hit ‘Crypto’ and then scroll all the way to the bottom to click on the button that says ‘Redeem Claim Code.’

To note, if you have a business account, you’ll need to call Paypal directly (+1–888–221–1161 if you’re in the US) in order to get a customer service representative to manually downgrade your account to a personal account.

Once you’ve hit the ‘Redeem Claim Code’ button, it’ll prompt you on the next screen to enter your Claim Code as well as some KYC data in order to verify that you are in fact the one eligible for the claim:

Then after you’re done filling out your KYC information, you should take you to the final confirmation screen that looks like this:

How to receive your claims on Venmo

On Venmo, the process is a bit easier but from my understanding a claim can only be done on the Venmo app (as opposed to doing so from a normal web browser).

After logging in, hit the ‘Crypto’ button at the bottom of the screen:

On the next screen, scroll all the way to the bottom and you should find a button, similar to the one that’s on Paypal that says ‘Redeem Claim Code’:

And then on the final screen, you simply enter your Claim Code as well as your KYC information and you should receive your $ETH and $BTC within minutes:

Conclusion

The general consensus that I’ve gathered from others on crypto twitter is that the amounts received are a bit less than what people had expected, especially if you were holding larger amounts. That being said, I’m personally thankful that I was able to receive anything back, let alone nearly 75% of what I had in terms of USD. Obviously however, I would have much rather just been able to withdraw 75% of the $BTC I had deposited at the time, because even with a 25% haircut I would have made more than 2x in gains than what I had in June 2022.

Did you already port your claims? What percentage were you able to get back?

Hopefully you found this helpful, and as always thanks for taking the time to read this and be sure to follow me on twitter (https://twitter.com/CryptosWith) to get all my latest updates. Also, looking for a gift for your Crypto-loving/hating friend? Give them a REKT journal to cheer them up!

Oh, so its actually proceeding and paying everyone! I read the news before and ven made a short post about it, but it was yet to be seen if it will be happening for everyone or just big investors or certain users.

Of course it seems like paying everyone comes with not everyone getting everything. Could be worse tho, to lose it all. I'm glad people is getting their money back.

Yes! Finally they are, and I very much agree, it's better than getting nothing. I think Celsius creditors have gotten a lot back compared to Voyager...
