Coming from nothing.

20210924_104803-01-01.jpeg

Today, I saw someone I recognized from Hive on Twitter; they left the chain about two or three years ago, and I believe I remember why: downvotes.

I believe they were posting too frequently, which attracted some DV. They had a decent Twitter following and were working on some web3 projects. They seem to have learned a whole lot about web3 and their hardwork had been rewarded because they flexed some money they've made on their Twitter account.

Also, they've seemed to have made great progress since leaving the Blockchain, even though they seem to have left without anything.

More Lands to Conquer

It's okay to leave Hive, sometimes the Blockchain no longer aligns to the beliefs of some people and whether they leave in a chaotic or peaceful way, it's still okay.

Web3 is a huge place and there are many concepts out there that can be rewarding, especially if you're coming from nothing and hoping to compound your efforts and build something that is can be multipliable by the bull market.

One of the most difficult places to come from, to web3 is "nothing":

Nothing, means nothing

without any investment it can get very stressful: you'd meet people who would shame you for coming from nothing, obviously these people are from all works of life and are also grinding like you too, but they might have more connections, more skin in the game and are more vested, and sometimes these people will see you as takers, and you'll have to fight to show that you can bring in value.

Obviously Hive is a fragment or one of the concepts in crypto. We are just one of hundreds of layer Ones out there. However, one thing we have in common with any other crypto ecosystem is the need for people to actively build and contribute.

So, whether you are here or there, or in multiple places like some of us, and you are starting from scratch, you will most likely need to learn some crazy skills and knowledge that will make you a valuable member of an ecosystem, which is why we can not overstate the importance of value and knowledge.

Why is knowledge so important on Web3?

First and foremost, it is important because it allows you to navigate your way. Some people started in web3 by mining BTC, setting up a rig, and hoping to make a lot of money; some failed, while others succeeded.

Some people began by investing in meme coins, others by chasing Airdrops, and eventually progressed from hunters to investors. Web3 is dynamic, and many people come from different place, and eventually learn the knowledge they need to find an adaptable place to call home.

It may surprise you to learn that some people made their fortunes by investing small sums in BTC and Eth in 2016 and 2017, then compounding these figures to increase their wealth and create new opportunities for themselves.

The truth is that far more people have started from nothing and worked their way up, and there is no shame in doing so; you simply need to be strategic, learn, and master the art of creating an edge for yourself.

Life can be disappointing when opportunities are lost, especially when some of our advantages are taken away.

Starting over is always difficult; many people have made mistakes and lost everything they had, and now they must begin again without the people they knew, the connections they would made, and everything they used to have.

Mistakes are a part of web 3.

Although one mistake can mar you

Some people have made life-changing decisions and either failed to profit or became overly greedy, losing everything in the process.

These mistakes are painful, because crypto opportunities might not offer you more than two opportunities to at least offer you a capital that can act as foundation to start whenever you want.

Conclusion

This is why I still believe knowledge is important.

Do you know why a few people here are clamouring for Hive interoperability with other chains? It is simple: we want to build an ecosystem in which users from other chains can use or be exposed to the products we offer, and vice versa.

This demonstrates the importance of gaining new knowledge. The drawback is that it will take a while. Time is a necessary sacrifice at times. It is exhausting to devote time to learning, but this type of knowledge exposes you to the right web3 opportunities. Again, starting from nothing is not a bad thing.

Starting from nothing is the best way to learn honestly. If you jump in with a huge nest egg and lose it all that would be painful. In the world of crypto and web3 mistakes will be made, and lessons will be learned. Hive will take some serious time to reach it's full potential, and we all hope in the end it will deliver. One thing it gives you is the chance to start with nothing and grow an account which is hard to do elsewhere. Monetizing Twitter or YouTube is next to impossible. But I'm preaching to the choir, we're both believers!

Monetizing YouTube is another of of those craziest dreams. It works out for 2% or a little bit more for some people and it doesn't for a whole others. It's even riskier because these guys can wake up one day and take away the account that might've taken 8 years to build or something like that.
As for starting from nothing, it's a great way to go, but for inconsistent people it'll probably not work out because there are so many grounds you to cover, lots of efforts to put in.

I think that you need to learn, and most things take time to learn. I think the entire thing with downvotes suck to hear about, but I guess he took what he learned and did a great job. We all make mistakes as we are all only human, but learning from them will put you ahead of the others.

Well he went somewhere else. I've always known him to be a hustler, so he got a verified Twitter account and now makes some nice money with some lastest web3 meta called kaito.

Starting from nothing is better than starting over which can be very difficult. Learning a valuable skill or stuff can be time demanding taking lots of our sacrifices and efforts, but it's always worth it in the end.

Indeed. Learning a valuable web3 skill is important even though it's stressful and can be discouraging when you don't grow the way you want..

We say, only who does nothing makes no mistakes, so yes mistakes are part of web 3 and life too, knowledge can help you reduce them, but some there will always be... Web 3 is good as it gives a lot more opportunities if you make a mistake

Yeah, there are probably going to be more opportunities in web3 and some people will make up for their previous mistakes, but it can be hard. For example if the market or expected alt season doesn't pump as hard as it did in 2021, then many people will have never gotten an opportunity to rewrite their 2021 mistakes.

You’re absolutely right to tell the importance of knowledge and skills in the Web3 world, it’s a fast changing field that requires you to always stay updated and keep evolving.

Yes, evolution and change is almost inevitable in web3, even though we want it to remain as it was.

I think it really does pay to be open-minded when exploring a new territory such as web3. Any form of knowledge will most likely give one an edge especially when utilize correctly, because the space is set up in a way that making outsized returns usually comes from being early at something that only few understand.

There are a lot of those people who "left the blockchain due to dv" and, yes, many of them have gone on to do great things or become very popular elsewhere :). It's a shame we chased some of those people away.

Greetings @josediccus ,

Oh wow...ending with the Gospel message. Lovely....which is a fabulous beginning that ends well. ^__^

Enjoyed reading your well-written post...it is true. To start from nothing can be very freeing as well as long as we are free from self pity...which can bog us down in a heartbeat.

Kind Regards,

Bleujay

I really enjoyed this post 🙏🏾

I know a lot of people who have left Hive due to being downvoted and spoken to like a piece of shit

Now Most of them people are doing much better than before Hive needs a lot of work and it needs to start at the top otherwise Hive has no future 🙏🏾

I'm being downvoted by one of the biggest farmers on Hive for no reason I've asked many times why I'm being downvoted I never get a straight answer

I believe that blurt and steemit will be a lot better and bigger than Hive in the near future

I know many people who have powered down everything and moved to both steemit and blurt or picked one of them and they have all done well

Starting from nothing is a great motivator, because it forces you to act and to learn and adapt. The memory of the early beginnings keep some humble and motivated, while other forget where they started from as they have some successes.

Knowledge is important but more important is to know how to obtain it.

I guess it can also make people arrogant too. Somehow I believe that being overly successful and coming from nothing can make some people overly arrogant. However you're right, on the other hand it can also motivate one to stay humble and appreciative of the journey.

It is possible. I guess it depends on the culture, the people they surround themselves with, etc. I have a perfect example of an arrogant rich in my mind now, but I'd rather not say anything about it since hopefully it would eventually be put to rest.

but I'd rather not say anything about it since hopefully it would eventually be put to rest.

I guess we all have that one person that comes to mind. I guess I'm not rich, but I hope not to get riches that'll make me arrogant
