GAUNTLET WILD NOVICE INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT

Salutations Praetorians!

I am so elated with the result of this tournament as this does not come very often. There comes a time when Lady-Luck is on your side. This might be one of those days 😀. With just 50 DEC entrance fee, roughly 5 SPS, I won 313.6 SPS, one of my biggest win so far. I encourage everyone to participate in these tourneys as often as possible as usually there are rewards for players getting even up to 128th place. Who knows, you may be the next champion. The following games are from the second round of this tournament.

Ruleset: Tis But Scratches(all units have Cripple-minus 1 to targets max health after each successful attack, does not affect units with Immunity), Lost Legendaries(cannot summon legendary units), Earthquake(non flying and Snared units takes 2 physical damage each round starting from round 2), 37 Mana

Opponent played by the ruleset of Earthquake by choosing BRIGHTON BLOOM as summoner, giving Flying to all his units. I on the other hand used that Earthquake ruleset to intentionally kill my martyr units thus buffing QUORA and REGAL PERYTON. After Queen QUORA got buffed twice, she was almost unstoppable.

Ruleset: Holy Protection(all units have Divine Shield-ignores all damage once), 60 Mana

Both of us had BYZANTINE KITTY as summoner and 2 Taunt monsters in front, but I was able to sustain mine longer thanks to the Tank Heal of GOBLIN PSYCHIC and Repair of SCAVO HIRELING. My AGOR LONGTAIL actually lasted until the end of Round 3, and my secondary tank OAKEN BEHEMOTH stood strong until the end of this contest thanks again to GOBLIN PSYCHIC and SCAVO HIRELING.

Ruleset: Little League(can only summon units and summoner that cost 4 or less mana), Healed Out(units and summoners lose all abilities that restores health), Broken Arrows(cannot summon units with Ranged attack), 17 Mana

Enhanced Blue Magic vs Enhanced Green Magic! The MVP's in this battle are SHOCK TROOPER with its colossal 4 Magic damage and the legendary MUSA SALINE with her Scavenger ability. Every round SHOCK TROOPER erases an enemy unit thus making MUSA SALINE gain more health.

Ruleset: Little League(can only summon units and summoner that cost 4 or less mana), Earthquake(non flying and Snared units takes 2 physical damage each round starting from round 2), Are You Not Entertained?(can summon one additional Gladiator), 16 Mana

Almost a similar set-up with HALFLING REFUGEE in front, and MOXIAN REBEL giving Weapons Training to both PELACOR CONJURER and Gladiator HELMET KHARAFAX. The main difference and the deciding factor I believe, was my summoner LORNA SHINE as she gives an extra layer of defense with Divine Shield, which made my units survive longer.

Ruleset: Four's A Crowd(can summon a maximum of 4 units), Close Range(units have Close Range (can use ranged attacks from the first position), 32 Mana

With only 4 units and 32 Mana available, I needed to choose units that will strike hard and fast. Good thing there was a Close Range ruleset which meant I can use all Ranged units and select YODIN ZAKU as summoner for that plus 1 Ranged damage, plus 1 health and Blast damage for all my monsters. This battle ended in just 2 rounds.

Ruleset: Might Makes Right(can only summon units with 3 or more ranged, magic, or melee power), Close Range(units have Close Range (can use ranged attacks from the first position), Maneuvers(units have Reach (can use melee attacks from the second position), 25 Mana

How frustrating it must have been to be facing a monster in first position with Flying and 6 Speed further boosted by summoner VALNAMOR to 7 Speed. The enemy units were not able to touch PHANTOM OF THE ABYSS. The only damage my monsters received was from my own unit SHOCK TROOPER 😅, and the match ended quickly in just 2 rounds.

Ruleset: Deflection Field(all units have Reflection Shield-0 damage from Blast splash or Punishment abilities), Wands Out(can only summon units with Magic attack), Little League(can only summon units and summoner that cost 4 or less mana), 57 Mana

One of my losses in this tournament. I was soundly outplayed as my chosen summoner ALRIC STORMBRINGER was countered by THADDIUS BROOD. My opponents 2 Life Leech monsters LIFE SAPPER and VENARI BONESMITH proved very invaluable in this Little League contest.

Ruleset: Healed Out(units and summoners lose all abilities that restores health), Born Again(all units have Rebirth-self Resurrects once per battle with 1 health and 100& armor), Weak Magic(Magic damage hits armor before reducing health), 26 Mana

Payback time! Even though one of the the ruleset is Weak Magic, I still went for mostly Magic attackers that is further amplified by VALNAMOR. I was counting on both RIVERBOAT CAPTAIN and RULER OF THE SEAS for their blast damage and focused my attack in front, while my opponent targeted my backline with 3 Sneak units and their Melee damage increased by his summoner DARIA DRAGONSCALE. Good thing my units were faster thanks to the plus 1 Speed given by VALNAMOR, as his units missed a few attacks, while my Magic attackers always hit their target. GG's 👍.
